In 2007, George Wimpey and Taylor Woodrow joined forces to form Taylor Wimpey. It is one of the largest housebuilders in the UK, with 24 regional offices across England, Wales and Scotland.
It builds homes suitable for all buyers, from those looking to get on the property ladder, to growing families, to downsizers. The company builds developments in all locations, with one- and two-bedroom apartments in the city, to five-bedroom detached houses in the countryside. As well as the homes, it also provides millions of pounds worth of infrastructure, including roads, community facilities and sewers.
To help its customers, Taylor Wimpey has several special offers to allow customers to purchase their dream new home. It offers the Help to Buy scheme, which can also be used with its easymover scheme, where the housebuilder will help the purchaser sell their previous home. It also offers a Part Exchange service and an exclusive armed forces discount. It also offers buyers the chance to choose the personal touches for their new home, from door handles and tiles to kitchen units and carpets.
The housebuilder aims to build homes that fit into the surroundings and are not harmful to the local environment. Responsible urban planning is essential to the company, and it looks to plan developments around open spaces, and provide safe cycle and pedestrian pathways.

Award Comments
This project was used as a trial of five zero-carbon-ready, 100% electric homes on a live Taylor Wimpey development in Suffolk.
A roof-mounted air-source heat pump was installed, zero energy bills is the target, while gathering post-occupancy insight and also using augmented reality to educate visitors to the scheme on the workings of the new technologies, as well as providing feedback to the supply chain and the industry’s workforces.
