Friday 28 April is the 100th anniversary of the opening of the original Wembley Stadium and we’re taking a look at current new homes close to this venue and to other major football stadiums around Greater London.
One hundred years ago, the Twin Towers of the iconic stadium hosted its very first event, the 1923 FA Cup final between Bolton Wanders and West Ham United. The building cost the equivalent of £46million and had taken just 300 days to build. After that, it hosted countless events including the Olympic Games, World Cup Finals for football and rugby league, and the Live Aid concert broadcast around the world in the summer of 1985.
Here are some of the developments currently offering brand new homes located close to some of London’s best-known football stadiums.
New homes near Wembley Stadium
The new Wembley Stadium was opened in 2007, the largest in the UK and second-largest in Europe, and it continues to be a landmark venue for sport (including rugby, American football and boxing) and music events. Located around it, a major regeneration project has seen thousands of new homes built alongside shopping, amenities, entertainment venues and hotels. The area is served by three major rail and Tube stations, with frequent speedy service to and from the centre of the capital, making it a popular place to visit and to live.
Many of the new apartments here are in the Build to Rent market, among them ten buildings from Quintain Living, each with its own character, including ‘Scandi-inspired’, ‘urban country’ and ‘bold and eclectic’ . providing high-quality homes supplemented by many amenities for residents to use, including lounges, gyms, co-working and office space, gardens and children’s play areas. The most recent to open, at the end of last year, is Repton Gardens, which has a theme of sustainability and the environment for its range of studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments. At another completed block, the roof terrace of the Ferrum building provides residents with a clear view of Wembley’s signature arch. Find out more at www.quintainliving.com.
