Marylebone A Prime Central London Hotspot

Posted 31 December 2021 by Keith Osborne

There are a host of brand new luxury homes for sale around the characterful Marylebone district...

The district of Marylebone has become one of the most talked-about and sought-after residential hotspots in central London, and there are currently a number of luxury developments there which are attracting high-budget property buyers and investors.

Marylebone’s village feel is one of the major factors appealing people to live in the area. It used to be a parish, then a borough in its own right before being made a part of the City of Westminster in the 1960s. Its borders are Edgware Road to the west, Oxford Street to the south, Great Portland Street to the east and Regent’s Park and Regent’s Canal to the north. The area’s network of residential streets and mewses is peppered with garden squares along with some popular retail and entertainment spots.

Marylebone High Street is known for its mix of national and international brands alongside many independent shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants – perfect places to conduct and reward retail therapy. Among the more exclusive names in the district are The Conran Shop, Ginger Pig, The Ivy, Chiltern Firehouse and the Michelin-star Locanda Locatelli restaurant. Other popular destinations for visitors include Madame Tussauds and The Wallace Collection. The district is also home to the many medical practices of Harley Street and to BBC Broadcasting House.

The area has well-regarded state and private schools, including the famous Sylvia Young Theatre School, in addition to the University of Westminster and the Royal Academy of Music.

Transport connections are plentiful. The A501 (known as Marylebone Road and Euston Road) leads to the A40 (Westway) and thereon to the M4 and M25. Park Road leads to Finchley Road and later the M1. Public services are also excellent. London Marylebone has National Rail services through north London, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Warwickshire to Birmingham. Marylebone Tube station is on the Bakerloo line and Baker Street is served by several lines.

Over the years, Marylebone has been home to many famous people including Charles Dickens, JMW Turner, The Beatles, Madonna and author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, who gave Sherlock Holmes an address at 221b Baker Street. The area is part of London’s most expensive borough and nowadays, new developments are aimed at an audience with a serious budget, providing the highest-quality design and specification alongside some exceptional lifestyle facilities.

Located on Moxon Street, off Marylebone High Street, Marylebone Square offers 54 luxury apartments with private outside space, as well as boutiques, restaurants and a versatile community hall. The external design is a contemporary twist on some classical architecture, providing all homes with floor-to-ceiling windows, and inside, a private five-level Inner Courtyard opens out to replace traditional corridors with a bright and airy indoor atrium garden and glass ceiling. Interior specification includes things like oak flooring, bronze-coated windows and stone counter tops, bathrooms with French marble and walnut veneer and underfloor heating. There will be secure underground parking and a 24-hour concierge. Guide prices include £2.55million for a one-bedroom home and £6.35million for a three-bedroom property.
