Knight’s Keep by Redrow – Show Home Room by Room
The Richmond show home at Knight’s Keep in Stretton is one of two fully furnished show homes promoting 85 private-sale homes from Redrow’s Arts & Crafts inspired Heritage Collection.
Redrow’s interior design team, led by head of interior design Emma Brindley, took their cues from the surrounding countryside and customer research that includes developing specific personas for the kind of people who might live in each of their homes.
Emma says: “When we style a home like the Richmond we have a particular family in mind. They are likely to be a high-achieving couple aged 40-50 with fast track lives, successful careers and two teenage children.” Emma takes WhatHouse? on a guided tour of the property and identifies some of the highlights…
Lounge: The lounge offers a luxurious environment where customers can imagine themselves sitting back and relaxing. Beautiful textured wallpaper from Elitis in the Raffia and Madagascar range is offset by the simplicity of neutral paint, luxury fabrics and dark, contemporary furniture. The lovely ottoman style coffee table, upholstered with pale blue fabric, makes a stylish and practical centre piece for the room.
Kitchen: A favourite feature of the Richmond is its open plan kitchen, dining and family room at the rear. Within this sociable space, the kitchen takes centre stage flanked by a dining area and living space on either side. The kitchen combines cabinets from Symphony in Cranbrook Sage with White Arabesque granite worktops. The designers’ attention to detail is evident in the coordinating breakfast bar stools and Roman blinds.
Dining: Porcelanosa plank-effect floor tiles in Chester leno carry through from the kitchen into the dining area, as does the Dulux Heritage Chiltern white paint on the walls, although here it is complemented by a feature wall paint in Setting Stone. This same colour has also been used to create a coordinating sideboard. The dark wood dining table adds contrast, while the fabric to the dining chairs harmonises with the corner sofa in the family room to unify the spaces.
Family: The spaciousness of the family room is evident by the full sized warm chalk corner sofa, offering views through the tall, wide patio doors to the garden beyond. An ottoman style coffee table covered with houndstooth fabric and beautiful cushions in dusky blue and soft heather add colour and texture to the room, with similar tones picked out in the bespoke artwork on the wall. The feature wall is a favourite of Emma’s, Dulux Heritage terra-ombra.
Landing: The galleried landing is an impressive space, dominated by the central feature of a lantern-style pendant light, while an elegant console table in dark wood makes good use of the space available. The Dulux Heritage raw cashmere paint and Sensations light taupe carpet carry through from downstairs, adding to the effortless flow of this home.
Master bedroom: All four bedrooms in the Richmond are generously proportioned. The master bedroom has a sense of style evocative of a boutique hotel. A mix of warm taupe and neutral tones creates a feeling of sanctuary. This bedroom has been decorated with luxury wallpaper from Boras Tapeter’s Linen collection in Flax Fiber to the feature wall, with the other walls painted in Roman white. A walk-in wardrobe from Goodings has Walnut frames, complemented by Milano bedsides and dressing table, providing storage solutions that are practical and stylish in equal measure. Ceiling hung, wall to wall curtains accentuate the space.
Boy’s bedroom: In teenager Ben’s room, the designers have used a combination of stripes, tartan and star patterns to create a funky, youthful look. Magazines and artwork suggest he’s a young gamer, who also has a keen interest in cars.
