The WhatHouse? team reports on our current favourite new build home for sale – today, it’s a two-bedroom apartment at Plas Y Coed, a development in Porth Penrhyn, Bangor, Gwynedd from Watkin Jones Homes.

Apartment No.7 is on the first floor of the superb restored Grade II listed Victorian Gothic revival-styled mansion, constructed of local granite and slate, and ornately decorated with Anglesey Limestone. This home has an open-plan kitchen/living room which has views across to formal gardens at the rear of the building. It is fitted with Gemini kitchen including oven, hob, microwave, fridge freezer and washer/dryer. There’s also a handy, windowed storage cupboard. The bathroom features Porcelanosa tiles and sanitary ware. The building has double glazed handmade wooden sash windows. Bedroom 1 is a double room which overlooks the main entrance through feature bay window, and it comes with an en suite. Bedroom 2 is a single room, or perfect home office, which overlooks the courtyard. This home is priced at £240,000.

The converted building at Plas Y Coed now comprises 12 highly individual living spaces. The sensitive restoration work means that many original features have been retained, including the sweeping panelled staircase, gothic stone arches, the original fireplace and polychromatic ceramic floor tiles. There are still a range of one- to -three-bedroom units available, with prices ranging from £165,000 to £475,000.

Porth Penrhyn in just east of the university town of Bangor, overlooking the Menai Strait. The town itself has an impressive range of shops and amenities, with plenty of places to eat, drink and have fun for leisure. Bangor station has services to Anglesey, Llandudno, Colwyn Bay, Chester and beyond. The A55 North Wales Expressway is also to hand.
