Home of the Day – The ‘Ardler’, Places for People

Posted 14 May 2021 by Keith Osborne

Right now, our favourite new home is a type called the ‘Ardler’, available from Places for People at its Chapelton development…

The WhatHouse? team reports on our favourite new build home for sale today, the ‘Ardler’, which is a house type for sale from developer Places for People at Chapelton, a brand new town taking shape around eight miles south of Aberdeen city centre.

The ‘Ardler’ is also Places for People’s Home of the Month at Chapelton and is currently available on Plot 54 at £255,000 and on Plot 55 at £260,000. These are semi-detached versions of this three-bedroom home, which could perfectly suit a growing family. It’s a generous size, featuring 1,115 sq ft of living space. Of the hallway to one side is a living room at the front of the home, which comes with a feature fireplace. Passing to the rear of the house, past the downstairs cloakroom and a storage cupboard under the stairs, and you reach a contemporary kitchen/dining area. This has a useful utility room and French doors to the turfed rear garden. Upstairs, two of the bedrooms are doubles with fitted wardrobes – with the bonus of an en suite to bedroom one – and bedroom three is a single and could equally make an ideal home office. This home comes with private parking.

The ArdlerChapelton is just eight miles from Aberdeen along the A92, and six miles north of Stonehaven. It is at the early stages of creating a whole new town, with a masterplan that can incorporate some 8,000 new homes along with a host of other features such as shops, offices, parks and schools – a whole new community comprised of several neighbourhoods.

Currently there are numerous useful shops and amenities on the doorstep or within a few minutes in Newtonhill, on the coast. For those who love exercise and the outdoors, Chapelton has its very own marked walking trail through some diverse scenery and wildlife habitats. It has been designed to allow families to get outside and offer access to some of Aberdeenshire's most scenic spots overlooking the North East coastline.

There are currently a number of two-, three- and four-bedroom homes available in the form of apartments, and terraced/semi-detached/detached houses. Full market prices start at £180,000 but selected properties are available on a shared equity basis, requiring a much smaller deposit and mortgage – ideal for house-hunters on a limited budget. Using it could bring a home priced at £180,000 to £108,000. Find out more about Chapelton from Places for People.
