Posted 10 May 2021 by Keith Osborne

Our favourite new home for sale today is the ‘Dovecote 3’ at Green Hills, the Kingswood Homes development in Blackburn…

The WhatHouse? team reports on our current favourite new build home for sale – the three-story, three-bedroom ‘Dovecote 3’ house type is available at Kingswood Homes’ Green Hills development in Feniscowles, to the south-west of Blackburn, Lancashire.

The semi-detached ‘Dovecote 3’ is also the housebuilder’s own Home of the Week and is available on Plot 81 and Plot 82. It’s a great the contemporary design all the properties here, featuring brick and timber finishes and full-height windows to maximise natural light. Priced from £223,995, this house type is home available for ‘early bird’ buyers and will be able to be purchased through the government-backed Help to Buy scheme.

Being a three-storey homes means it offers a lot of living space – in the case of the ‘Dovecote 3’, it’s 1,431 sq ft. The ground floor is a great example of open-plan living, a dual-aspect kitchen/dining/family room which will be the hub of the home. There is also a cloakroom, and some very useful storage under the stairs. On the first floor, there’s a living room with French doors to the garden and at the front of the home is the master bedroom with en suite. The top floor has two further double bedrooms and a family bathroom.

Green Hills comprises 185 new homes set around two village greens. This development has no fewer than 61 individual home designs by Wayne and Gerardine Hemingway, with inspiration from the area’s traditional farmsteads and barns. Situated on a Pennine hillside in Blackburn, the site comes with some lovely views of Lancashire countryside.

With such a major scheme, the housebuilder is doing more than simply building the new properties, its Community Support Fund offers grants to charities and community groups active within a ten-mile radius of its new homes developments.

The 29th Blackburn Immanuel Brownies from Feniscowles originally applied to the fund to help pay for a residential trip for a series of fun and exciting team building activities. With regular Brownie gatherings put on hold due to social distancing guidelines, the group instead used part of the funding to pay for crafts and equipment for a round-the world challenge they could enjoy together remotely to help them stay in touch. The children got involved in making Welsh love spoons, planted bulbs for Holland, made a Diwali lamp for India, created Christmas crafts for Switzerland and a towel folding elephant for Africa, amongst many other fun tasks.

Kingswood Homes BrowniesOf the £600 donation, Lesley Myers, head of sales at Kingswood Homes, said: “The Immanuel Brownies is on the doorstep of our Green Hills development off Livesey Branch Road and provides activities for young people in the area which we are keen to support. It is great that our Community Support donation went towards their remote craft and activity work which helped the girls build up their life knowledge and social skills. We know the group is looking forward to their residential trip in the near future and we hope they have a great time away together soon.”

Anne Wright, leader of Blackburn Immanuel Brownies, said: “Thanks to Kingswood Homes, the girls have been able to spend some quality time online together where they have been able to take part in the round-the-world craft challenge. We will also be using some of the funding to pay for our forthcoming trip.

“We try to create experiences for girls and young women and this donation will also help us develop an inclusive volunteering experience and make an impact on our local and wider communities. Some of our group actually live on Green Hills so it was extra special that Kingswood Homes has supported them in this way and we are all very grateful.”

Kingswood Homes is welcoming house-hunters to book an appointment to see Green Hills and talk to its marketing team by appointment, available seven days a week from 10.00am to 5.30pm. there’s also a four-bedroom, three-storey ‘Dovecote 4’ show home to view which illustrates standard specification together with some of the options buyers have to upgrade and personalise their new home.
