The WhatHouse? team reports on our current favourite new build home for sale – today, it’s a four-bedroom detached house type at Meadow View, a Gentoo development in Houghton-le-Spring in Tyne and Wear.

There’s a welcoming hallway off which at the front of the home are a study – a high priority for many house-hunters these days – the downstairs cloakroom, a living room with French doors to the garden, and the triple-aspect, open-plan kitchen/dining room with some extra ‘family’ space for some comfortable furniture or a play area. This room also has double doors to the rear garden.

Up the U-shaped staircase to the first-floor landing and off the landing are bedroom one, with en suite shower room, double bedroom two and two single bedrooms, which could easily function as play or hobby rooms, or a separate home office. A bathroom and two useful storage cupboards complete the layout. This home type comes with a single garage and driveway.

The latest phase includes a range of new two-, three- and four-bedroom house types, with prices currently starting at £179,995 for the three-bedroom ‘Laburnam’. Buyers keen to personalise their home or treat themselves to an upgrade from the standard specification have a wide range of options.
