Keith OsborneThe WhatHouse? team reports on our current favourite new home for sale right now – today, we pick the ‘Lichfield’ house type at Ramblers’ Gate, the David Wilson Homes development in the market town of Ashbourne, Derbyshire.
Our choice of this five-bedroom detached house type is on Plot 103, which has been reduced in price from £564,995 to £549,995. This one has an upgraded kitchen with integrated appliances worth £4,131, flooring worth £12,000 and additional tiling. What’s more, the housebuilder is offering £5,000 towards Stamp Duty. It’s a double-fronted house with 2,491 sq ft of living space set over three storeys. Through the porch and front door to the hallway and there’s a study on one side and a lounge on the other. This leads to a dining room with French doors to the rear garden. The large kitchen/family room can be accessed for the dining room and hallway and has its own set of French doors, as well as a useful utility room. Upstairs on the first floor is the family bathroom and three double bedrooms, including the spacious master which comes with dressing area and en suite with bath and separate shower. There’s another bathroom and two large double bedrooms on the top floor.
Ramblers’ Gate comprises a mix of two- to five-bedroom homes, though there are no two-bedroom properties available now. Prices currently range from £255,995 to £569,995, with the offer of purchasing through the Help to Buy equity loan initiative. Ashbourne is a much-loved town on the southern edge of the Peak District, with many historic buildings and numerous independent shops, restaurants and bistros just 15 minutes on foot from Ramblers’ Gate. Stoke-on-Trent, Derby and Nottingham are all within easy reach.
