Home of the Day – ‘The Oak’, Berkeley Homes

The WhatHouse? team reports on our current favourite new build home for sale – today, it’s ‘The Oak’, a luxury townhouse on a prestigious development in sought-after Richmond is the south-west of London, Richmond Chase from Berkeley Homes.

There are only two homes remaining for sale here, both versions of ‘The Oak’, one on Plot H60 (priced £1.76 million) and the one we are looking at, the fully furnished show home on Plot H62 (£1.84 million). It’s a three-storey, Victorian-inspired townhouse in a crescent terrace, and it comes with two parking space. The four-bedroom house boasts elaborate period features such as impressive ceiling heights, a fireplace for the living room, double glazed sash windows and decorative coving within a highly sustainable structure that is complemented with modern LED downlights and zoned underfloor heating.

On the ground floor, a vast entrance hall welcomes, creating a magnificent first impression. To the left is a grand, formal sitting room, complete with a wide bay window which provides additional cushioned seating and floods the room with light. Set towards the rear of the home, the spacious open-plan kitchen, dining and living area is ideal for relaxing and entertaining. Floor-to-ceiling bi-fold doors open out to a manicured private garden.

The OakAscending the stairs, double-height ceilings enhance the sense of space found throughout the home. The area around Richmond Chase has some of the most respected state and independent schools in London, with Marymount International School, King’s College and the Royal Ballet School all within a 20-minute drive. The A3 is under 15 minutes’ drive away, linking residents to the towns and villages of Surrey, central London and the M25 road network. For commuters, Overground trains from Richmond station to Clapham Junction take just eight minutes, and trains to London Waterloo take 21 minutes.
