The WhatHouse? team reports on our current favourite new home for sale right now – today, we pick the ‘Alderney’ house type at Lucerne Fields, a Barratt Homes development in Ivybridge, a small town in the sought-after South Hams district of Devon.

It’s a four-bedroom, double-aspect, detached home and the one for sale on Plot 75 is currently priced £359,995. From its hallway, which houses the cloakroom and two useful storage cupboards, on one side is a dining room and on the other a lounge, which has French doors to the garden. At the rear of the property is the kitchen/breakfast/family room, which has its appliances and generous worktop/storage along two side and its own French doors. The family bathroom is upstairs along with the en suite master bedroom, two more double bedrooms and a single room, which could function as a home office. This home comes with a garage and two parking spaces.

Lucerne Fields is a development of two-, three- and four-bedroom homes priced between £209,995 and £389,995. Help to Buy is available here. Located on the edge of Ivybridge, it’s just a couple of minutes from the Devon Expressway which connects Plymouth and Exeter. There's some beautiful countryside and coast within easy reach, including numerous National Parks and AONBs.

The ‘Alderney’ house type is also available at a number of Barratt Homes developments across the country:

Hawk Rise in Ledbury, Herefordshire, which has three- and four-bedroom properties from £255,995 to £369,995.

Needham’s Grange in Shavington cum Gresty, Cheshire, where there’s a choice of three- and four-bedroom houses between £193,995 and £299,995.

Bedewell Court in Hebburn, Tyne & Wear, with two-, three- and four-bedroom homes ranging from £129,995 to £244,995.
