Posted 3 June 2020 by Keith Osborne

Our favourite new home for sale is Plot 17 at Long Hazel Farm in Sparkford, Somerset, from Ashford Homes...

The WhatHouse? team reports on our current favourite home for sale – today, we pick Plot 17, a mid-terrace, two-bedroom house at Long Hazel Farm in the Somerset village of Sparkford, built by Ashford Homes and available on a part buy-part rent basis.

Plot 17 is in the northernmost three-property terrace at the back of the development and comes with a west-facing rear garden and two allocated parking spaces. There’s a well-proportioned living room opening onto the garden, a front-aspect kitchen and downstairs cloakroom. Upstairs are two double bedrooms and a family bathroom. The market price for this home is £225,000, but through the Home Reach part buy-part rent scheme, buyers can start by purchasing 60% of the home for £135,000 and paying a subsidised rent on the remainder. Over time, if they wish, they can purchase a greater share of the home, up to 100%. House-hunters looking for something special can ask about a range of upgrades and options on things like flooring, kitchen worktops and bathroom accessories and finishes.

Long Hazel FarmLong Hazel Farm is a development of 35 homes for sale. There are currently a range of two- and three-bedroom terraced houses (a number of which can be purchased through Home Reach) and detached four-bedroom homes. Prices are between £135,000 (60% of full market value of £225,000) and £485,000. Selected plots are available on Help to Buy.

Sparkford is a small village where the much-loved A303 crosses the A359, meaning there is very straightforward access to the likes of Yeovil (20 minutes), Taunton and Shaftesbury (30 minutes), and the cities of Exeter and Bristol (both an hour away). The area has some well-respected state and independent schools, and is surrounded by delightful countryside, with the beautiful Dorset coast under an hour from home.
