With the Alfred Dunhill Links Championships starting on 30 September and and 150th Open taking place there next year, St Andrews is maintaining its status as the ‘home of golf’ – and there is now an opportunity to own a new property that overlooks its renowned course.

Some of the apartments at Hamilton Grand have views over the 18th hole of the Old Course – one of the three courses to host the event. It’s an iconic red sandstone building which offers 27 new luxury apartments, most of which have been sold – but there are still a few chances to purchase a property here.

Featuring a distinctive bell-shaped dome, Hamilton Grand start life as a luxury hotel in 1895, with 100 rooms, and the first in Scotland with hot and cold running water in each bedroom and the first with a lift. It was requisitioned by the Air Ministry in the Second World War as a home for pilots. Post-war, the University of St Andrews purchased it and converted it into student accommodation. After 56 in this role, the building was purchased by private developer Kohler Co. and the major refurbishment began in 2009.

Now completed, each of its 27 apartments boast unique architectural features such as high ceilings, arched windows, columns, private balconies and exquisite furnishings and finishes, such as golfing memorabilia. Kohler Design Services offer bespoke interior design solutions including furnishing, flooring, lighting, painting or wall coverings, and cater to every taste from traditional Scottish to contemporary.

Hamilton GrandThe residences are managed by the Old Course Hotel, and residents benefit from complimentary membership at the resort’s Kohler Waters Spa and Fitness Centre including a 20-metre swimming pool and rooftop hot tub, and priority dining at the hotel as well as butler service, valet parking, private chefs and full housekeeping services. The Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa has been undergoing alterations and extensions this year to increase bedroom capacity, expand conference facilities, outdoor landscaping and adding electric charging points in the car park.

Owners who reside in Hamilton Grand for more than six months in the year are eligible to apply for a Links Ticket, giving them immediate access to the Old Course and the other six courses managed by the Links Trust for a minimal annual fee.

Hamilton Grand residents enjoy access to not only the finest golf but also the top-class dining in Scotland. The Jigger Inn is the most famous ‘19th hole’ in golf while the Hams Hame pub and restaurant beneath Hamilton Grand offers outstanding menus focused on the freshest Scottish produce. The neighbouring Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa features the Road Hole Restaurant, rated 3 AA Rosettes.
