Corn Barn Mews by Troy Homes - Show Home Room by Room

Posted 14 February 2018 by Helen Christie

WhatHouse? takes an exclusive tour of Troy Homes' new show home at Corn Barn Mews in the village of Beauchamp Roding in Essex...

Troy Homes' Corn Barn Mews is a collection of just six semi-detached four-bedroom family homes set within the vast countryside, all of which provide smart family living split over three floors.

We take a tour of the new show home to find out more about the beautiful interior design...

Living room: The living room has been designed to reflect the vast countryside the development sits within with the help of green, grey and heather hues and mixes - a relaxing colour pallete. Added to maximise natural light flooding the room and living space, the bay window was framed with a set of roman blinds and flat headed curtains in a luxurious fabric by Prestigious, 'Drummond' in a heather colour. The painted furniture with natural oak tops captures the cosy-smart vibe and the mix of  the metal and glass on the feature coffee table provides a contemporary edge against the traditional country feel. The striking contrast in materials is shown perfectly with the cast iron wood burner and fireplace.

Kitchen and dining area: A key feature of this "hub" of the home are the two sets of patio doors. These doors not only provide picturesque views of the garden and countryside beyond, but flood the room with plenty of natural light and enable flexible living. Designed for easy family life, the soft paint colours and gorgeous natural oak table with a heavily carved pedestal base and deep buttoned linen dining chairs make for a calming, comfortable environment.

Family room: In a neutral palette, this is a calm space which reflects the outside and frames the garden perfectly with patio doors. As with the kitchen, the patio doors enable flexible family living and maximise light. The curtain has been fixed to the ceiling to emphasise the higher ceilings and continue with the neutral colour palette with Herringbone Tweed fabric by Chatnam and Glyn and a leading edge fabric band in Casamance. The room features a comfortable neutral sofa and the coffee table can be transformed into a chaise, further highlighting the ability of flexible living at the development.

Master bedroom: Luxury was key when it came to the master bedroom. This room is a fabulous space to unwind and relax thanks to the super king luxury bed and headboard upholstered in Blake Grey fabric by J.Brown. The antique bedside mirror and wallpaper complement each other perfectly with contemporary trellis designs. The wallpaper is by designer wallpaper company, Thibault.

Guest bedroom: The guest bedroom is designed for relaxing and welcoming guests with its neutral tones and textures. The square padded feature headboard is by J.Brown and upholstered in Blake Cloud fabric. The pinch pleat curtains continue the neutral theme with Marley / Cream fabric by Ashley Wilde.

Third bedroom: This large room on the top floor boasts its own en-suite and proved to be ideal for a teenager with the extra space designed for a desk/study area. This fun and spacious room, with lots of space for storage, added that much-needed splash of colour every home needs. The charcoal paired with tones of pink provide a punch in a light and bright room.

Bathroom: The home's main bathroom and master en-suite keep to the neutral theme with contemporary sanitaryware in crisp white and wall and floor tiles in grey hues. Separate baths and showers continue Troy Homes' vision to ensure a flexible living space.

Garden: A large landscaped garden overlooking the vast countryside provides the perfect relaxing space for the warmer months. A real sun-trap, this home takes advantage of the garden's aspect with a large patio accessible via multiple patio doors.
