Right in the north of Cornwall, close to the border with Devon, Bude’s town centre has a good range of shops and amenities, and its variety of beaches make it appealing for relaxing and active residents and visitors. For a drink or meal, traditional seaside takeaways are complemented by some highly rated pubs and restaurants. There are plenty of other leisure and activities options too, including several sports clubs. There’s a cinema just south of the town on the A39, a road which links Bude with the likes of Wadebridge and Bideford. For families, there are a number of schools in the area rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted.

Cavanna Homes is progressing well at Bellevue, its development of 144 new homes just east of town in Stratton. The two-, three- and four-bedroom houses come in a range of styles inspired by local traditional design, but with a high-standard specification. A marketing suite and show home are open from Thursday to Monday between 10.00am and 5.00pm. There are currently some excellent limited-time offers: Plot 85 and Plot 86 are four-bedroom houses available with Stamp Duty paid; and two examples of the three-bedroom ‘Bracken’, starting at £330,000, come with a six-month mortgage contribution deal. Over time, the owner can buy further shares (called ‘staircasing’) until they own 100% of the property. Find out more at www.livewest.co.uk.

Burrington Estates’ Maer View is an exclusive collection of 21 four-bedroom houses located off Poughill Road. The ground floor also has a utility room, lounge, cloakroom and home office room. Two of the four comfortable double bedrooms come with an en suite, the others share a family bathroom. This home comes with integrated single garage and a parking provision for two cars. Find out more at www.burringtonestates.com.

The best new homes for sale in Duporth

Among the popular local destinations is the Eden Project. St Austell’s station offers direct services to the likes of London, Cardiff and Penzance.

Exclusive to over-55s, the remaining two-bedroom apartments have been designed with future adaptation taken into consideration. There’s a contemporary look inside and out, with modern architecture, fitted kitchens, integrated appliances, underfloor heating and electronic programming for heating system. Outside are covered private parking spaces. The remaining homes start at £430,000. Find out more.
