Show Homes’ Success In Motherwell

Keith OsborneBarratt Developments – which includes Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes – has seen high levels of buyer interest in a quartet of new show homes at one of its most popular west Scotland developments, Torrance Park in Motherwell.
Launched in July to mark the latest phase of homes available at the Holytown development, the four professionally decorated and furnished homes designed by interiors specialists, Show Business, offer a range of styles and demonstrate the standard specification and upgrades that buyers will find across the two brands.
Frankie Ralph, designer at Show Business, worked on the design for the interiors of the DWH ‘Dalmally’ house type, inspired by the LGBTQ+ flag. She explained: “This was done in a subtle way, by adding pops of multiple colours throughout the house. You can see the inspiration come through as accents in colourful cushion fabrics, abstract artwork, accessories, and pieces of furniture. Using different colours throughout the home adds some fun and personality, paired with contemporary marble and brass finishes in the furniture and light fittings to add opulence.”
The ‘Dalmally’ is a family home which incorporates creative interior design while appealing to the modern-day household. “There are a number of ways paint has been used creatively in the bedrooms to add unique touches - such as black and white stripes in one of the bedrooms,” said Ralph. “They run up the wall and extend onto the ceiling, adding height and creating a fun backdrop for artwork and accessories. This is my favourite room in the house because it feels bold and different.
“We added a large comfortable corner sofa in the living room, giving somewhere for all the family to sit down comfortably and chill out. And we designed fun bedrooms for a teenager and younger child to explore their interests and express their personality, without being stereotypical when it comes to gendered interests.”
‘Falkland’ show home
When it came to the four-bedroom ‘Falkland’ and ‘Corgarff’ show homes, Show Business designer Sophie Connolly worked with on-trend greens and serene blues to create spaces within the two homes which demonstrate subtle sophistication.
She said: “The ‘Falkland’ is the largest in size of the four houses, so we really wanted to create a sense of achievement in this home, it was aimed at being the ‘forever home’. The rich colour palette uses greens and neutrals, giving a sense of opulence and maturity. This is elevated by using gold accents throughout within the furniture and styling pieces.
“For the ‘Corgarff’ house type, we went with a softer colour palette; cashmeres and blues to give a feeling of serenity. Panelling is very popular just now, so we chose to give the TV wall more focus by using it here but kept it subtle. We also used large abstract art canvas’ within the home to create a statement and help divert people’s eyes across to different areas of the rooms. We did this in the lounge, having the canvas sit over beautiful, reflective wallpaper.”
Frankie Ralph, who also designed the interiors for the three-bedroom ‘Craigend’ house type, had fun using pastel pinks and on trend colour blocking, often seen in interiors by 2LG Studio - which is famous for its use of fun statement hues.
‘Corgarff’ show home
She said: “The 2LG Studio influence can be seen in one of the bedrooms, where the work from home area has been zoned with a pink arch. Grey is used as a base in this home, and it can sometimes feel cold when used on its own, but pink features work to add warmth, creating an inviting feel. Curves and arches are something we’re seeing come through as a popular interior design trend at the moment. These were incorporated into the home using paint colours, shaped mirrors and furniture. Soft colours and reflective surfaces have been used throughout, which help to reflect light and increase the sense of space. Meanwhile, on-trend diagonal colour blocking is used to zone the family area in the kitchen and add interest.”
Estelle Sykes, sales and marketing director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Scotland, said: “Our hugely popular Torrance Park development brings more high-quality family homes to the area and satisfies the continuing demand for more flexible space and outdoor lifestyle options from buyers.
“What’s more, with fresh and contemporary styling, our new show homes are an excellent example of the product on offer and the immense potential our five-star homes present for families seeking a home in which to create many happy memories.”
