Barratt Developments – Britain’s largest housebuilder – is selling homes at a number of its sites across the North East of England which will be ready for house-hunters to move into this summer.
Under the Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes brands, the former WhatHouse? Housebuilder of the Year is creating new home types that will suit the requirements and budgets of a range of buyers including first-timers, downsizers and growing families.
We take a look at some of the best new homes from Barratt and David Wilson now for sale which will be completed and ready to move into in just a few weeks.
The Orchard at West Park is taking shape in a sought-after part of Darlington that offers proximity to a multitude of great amenities including a nature reserve, play area, bike track, shops and well-regarded schools for children of all ages. Here, David Wilson Homes has an excellent family home called the ‘Hadley’ which is a three-bedroom house with two private parking spaces and a south-west-facing garden. The kitchen/dining/family room off one side of the hallway has the bonus of an additional utility room, and there’s a living room on the other side which has a window to the front and French doors to the garden at the rear. As well as a downstairs cloakroom, this home has a family bathroom and an en suite to bedroom one. It can be reserved now from £252,495.
Burton Woods is a popular development set in the wildlife haven on Whitworth Park in Spennymoor – a perfect location for lovers of the great outdoors but still not far from the city centre. Families will also be attracted to being in the catchment area of Rosa Street primary school and 'Outstanding' The Oaks secondary school. Ready to move into soon is the three-storey ‘Norbury’ which comes with three double bedrooms (one has en suite and dressing area), a lounge/dining room, separate upgraded fitted kitchen, cloakroom, family bathroom and two parking spaces. The price is from £208,495.
The ‘Maidstone’
In New Hartley, Northumberland, Church Fields is currently offering a mix of two-, three- and four-bedroom house types starting at £119,995 thanks to the Home Reach part buy-part rent scheme being available on selected plots. Under this initiative, you can start with just 50% ownership and pay a subsidised rent on the other half. Over time, you can purchase further shares until you have 100% ownership. However, for a summer move, the ‘Maidstone’ is available on the open market from its full price of £232,495 and buyers can also ask about using Part Exchange or receiving a £10,000 deposit boost from the housebuilder. This popular Barratt Homes house type has a lounge at the front and a kitchen/dining room to the rear with French doors to the west-facing garden. Two of the three bedrooms are doubles and one has an en suite shower room. A family bathroom completes the upstairs layout. This is a mid-terrace home with parking for two cars.
Elwick Gardens in Hartlepool has several two- and four-bedroom homes ready to move into right now, with some available with Help to Buy, and a number of special deals worth thousands of pounds. The development is only a couple of miles from the town centre and coastline and a few minutes’ drive to the A19. There are two primary schools rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted nearby. For people looking for a summer move, the semi-detached ‘Kenley’ is an ideal starter home. Downstairs are the light-flooded kitchen/dining room, a lounge and a cloakroom, while upstairs are two double bedrooms and a bathroom. Coming with parking for two cars, this home has recently been reduced in price to £160,995. This home can be purchased via Help to Buy, which only needs a 5% deposit, to which Barratt will contribute £5,000. There’s a First-Time Buyer Event Weekend taking place here on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 April, a chance to learn more about homes starting at £159,995.
