Aberdeenshire Homes Inspire Award-Winning Site Manager

Keith OsborneA major development in Inverurie is progressing well and benefitting from the influence of a site manager who has won an industry award for the quality of his work.
Barry Cooper is a site manager who oversees the construction of the properties at Osprey Heights, where Barratt Homes is building hundreds of new houses within easy reach of Aberdeen. He recently won a Pride in the Job award from NHBC, which recognises the best of thousands of construction site managers across the UK.
Surrounded by countryside and stunning views towards Bennachie hills, Osprey Heights offers a range of three-, four- and five-bedroom homes. The development has proven a success with families, meeting the growing demand for property in Aberdeenshire’s thriving towns and villages.
Cooper said: “Osprey Heights’ first homes were completed back in 2015 with close to 400 more having been handed over to happy homeowners since then. Now in phase five, the development will see close to 600 properties completed by 2026, with approximately 50 units being delivered every year.
“All of our homes are built with a timber frame kit, wrapped in concrete blocks with a mix of stone and roughcast finishes. Taking around 22 weeks from start to completion, depending on the houses type, future house buyers can see their new home come to life before their eyes.”
Barratt Developments was WhatHouse? Housebuilder of the Year 2019 and has a five-star rating for customer satisfaction from the Home Builders Federation. Cooper added: “A housebuilder can only secure a five-star rating by earning a consistently high score in the national survey of housebuilders. This means that customers must be satisfied with every aspect of the buying experience, and most importantly, the product itself. By constantly striving to maintain its longstanding five star rating, we operate a comprehensive sign-off process to ensure each home is finished to Home Building Federation’s standards. This means that each time a home is handed over to a new owner, it inspected personally by a company director.”
Each home at Osprey Heights is a ‘blank canvas’ for the buyer to personalise through a selection of kitchen and bathroom finishes and added extras, with the experienced sales always on hand to help with ideas and share popular combinations of units, worktops, tiling, carpets and more.
Barry Cooper
Cooper believes that part of the success of Osprey Heights is its “sense of place” by mirroring its green and open surroundings and incorporating plenty of landscaped space and even a play area for residents to enjoy in the summer months. “By engaging with local residents and contributing to community life, housebuilders are more likely to understand customers’ aspirations and how to provide a more satisfying product.”
The development boasts a range of house types with the three-bedroom ‘Craigend’, four-bedroom detached ‘Cullen’ and five-bedroom ‘Ballathie’, all currently available. Prices start at £244,995.
Living at Osprey Heights offers many ways to spend the weekends, with The Castle Trail, The Whisky Trail and countryside walks just a stone’s throw away. Host to independent retailers such as specialist butchers, florists and craft shops, as well high street shops and a golf club, Inverurie also enjoys excellent transport links to Aberdeen for those commuting to the city.
