For people unable to buy a first home on the open market, the Home Reach scheme is an excellent way to take a first step on the property ladder. It’s a part buy-part rent initiative where you can purchase a share of a new build home and pay a subsidised rent on the remainder. It’s a partnership between housing provider heylo and a number of housebuilders across England and is open to first-time buyers who meet the eligibility criteria. It offers the benefits of homeownership but requires a much smaller deposit and mortgage than purchasing outright. If they wish, owners can buy further shares later as their budget allows, until they own 100%.
