One Year On: WhatHouse? Award-Winner Lifestory

Posted 14 November 2022 by Keith Osborne

The WhatHouse? Awards 2022 take place this Friday, and in the countdown to it we take a look at one of last year’s winners, Lifestory…

The most prestigious prizes in the UK new homes industry are handed out this Friday 18 November at the WhatHouse? Awards Gala Luncheon, and in the run-up to it we’ve been reviewing some of the successful winners in 2021. Today it’s luxury later living specialist, Lifestory.

The developer was awarded Silver in the Best Retirement Development category for The Vincent, situated in Bristol’s Redland neighbourhood. Its 64 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments are arranged over three buildings, of which one is the restored Queen Victoria House, built in 1886, complemented by two brand new contemporary-design blocks, a combination that the Awards judges described as “a fabulous example of combining old architecture with new”.

They went on to say: “Most homes have balconies and large windows; light floods into the communal areas too, which makes the whole scheme feel uplifting. Even the pool and gym have huge windows. The Vincent is in a great location too, walking distance from cafés and shops, and with fabulous grounds for homeowners and tenants to enjoy while feeling safe and secure.”

Residents benefit from other excellent communal facilities including and owners’ lounge, a restaurant, a wellness spa and gym. Prices for the available new homes right now range from £400,000 to £1.25million. The is also a rental option from £2,422pcm.

Mike Gill, regional managing director of Lifestory, said: “We are thrilled to win Silver for Best Retirement Development at the WhatHouse? Awards 2021, often referred to as the ‘Oscars’ of the housebuilding industry. Winning a WhatHouse? Award is a great accolade as it reassures potential buyers they are purchasing from one of Britain’s best housebuilders.

“We would like to share our congratulations to the whole project team including the architects, Allford Hall Monaghan Morris and contractors, Blue Sky Building with whom Lifestory collaborated to accomplish a beautiful restoration of the Victorian building and the creation of two four- and five-storey modern terraces. Winning the award is a fantastic recognition to show that we have created exceptional homes and a beautiful community.”
