Keith OsborneWinchester-based Metis Homes has celebrated its first entry to the WhatHouse? Awards with a Silver in the Best Small Housebuilder category, which it received on stage from Lord (William) Hague at the glittering event at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Friday 18 November.
The WhatHouse? Awards is the biggest event in British housebuilding, and this year celebrated its 35th anniversary with an audience of around 1,700 industry professionals.
Adam O’Brien, managing director of Metis Homes, says: “This is the first time that Metis has entered the WhatHouse? Awards and we are very proud that a judging panel of industry experts and peers has recognised the substantial progress we have made as a business in a relatively short period of time. It is a huge endorsement of the values that are important to our business.
“In our awards submission we tried to give the judges an insight into those values, which include: quality of product; exceptional customer care; innovative marketing; strong community relations and CSR; strong pipeline; and impressive financial performance.
“This award is testament to the quality of homes we produce and is a ringing endorsement of the professionalism of the entire Metis team and the wider network of partners, suppliers and contractors with whom we work. I would like to thank them all for their continued support and contribution to our success.”
The award reflected the success of the company since it was founded nine years ago, recently re-branded from the Titan goddess of planning from its original Burton Property Ventures name. Its strapline is ‘Modern Homes. Traditional Values’, and its projects have covered a wide spectrum of new homes, averaging £438,000 but priced from £155,000 to £1.85m. The company is building across the south of England, from Wiltshire and Dorset through the Sussex and Surrey.
The independent judging panel said of the company: “There is real detail in its homes, as well as design innovation and a robust commitment to customer service. Its suppliers talk with one voice of the company’s professionalism and collaborative approach to delivering a diverse product range with health and safety front and centre.
“The goddess clearly looks favourably on them with an impeccable planning track record – the result of extensive and early engagement with key stakeholders. The directors know the lie of the land too, with a partnership deal with Waitrose to deliver new homes in Guildford town centre a classic example.”
