First-Time Buyer Event In Slough This Weekend

Posted 22 September 2021 by Keith Osborne

Developer SUR hosts a special event for first-time buyers offering advice and a chance to see in person its Novus Apartments...

First-time buyers can get some assistance navigating the world of mortgages and Help to Buy at a free event to be hosted at Novus Apartments in Slough this Saturday 25 September.

Potential purchasers will have an opportunity to book a free, no-obligation session with a professional mortgage advisor from the New Homes Mortgage Helpline, who will be available (by appointment) at the event.

As well as getting advice on the various mortgage products available to them, potential purchasers will also be able to discover more about the Help to Buy scheme and to explore if this could be right for them. With Help to Buy, eligible first-time buyers can own 100% of their home with just a 5% deposit and 75% mortgage. The government provides the remaining 20%, as an interest-free loan for the first five years (subject to T&Cs).

There will also be an opportunity at the event to meet with the dedicated sales team and view the array of show apartments.

Andy Howell, general manager, Slough Urban Renewal (SUR), said: “For many people starting on their journey into homeownership, it can be a daunting time. We have partnered with the New Homes Mortgage Helpline, to provide our buyers with access to free, professional advice, helping them to find a mortgage that’s just right for them. The team at New Homes support our purchasers throughout their mortgage application, taking them through every step, while remaining on hand to answer any questions or assist wherever they can.”

Craig Smith from the New Homes Mortgage Helpline (NHMH) added: “Even with the full Stamp Duty holiday ending, it is still a great time to buy a property. Interest rates are extremely low with several high street lenders now offering rates at less than 1%. These low rates plus the chance to still take up the Help to Buy scheme make it a great time to take that step and get onto the property ladder.”

Novus Apartments is the latest collection of homes to be delivered by SUR – the joint venture between Slough Borough Council and national urban regenerator, Muse Developments. The 64 studio suites, along with one- and two-apartments, enjoy a central location within Slough town centre. The apartments are part of the former library site, which has been transformed into a thriving new destination. Sat alongside Novus Apartments is the UK’s first Moxy and Residence Inn double-decker hotel, which has delivered a central hub full of amenities right in the heart of the town.

Every home at Novus Apartments has been built to a high specification, with Symphony kitchens and contemporary bathroom suites as standard. Amtico flooring is included in all living areas and fitted wardrobes are installed in all master bedrooms.

Located within a short walk of the train station, Novus Apartments is perfectly positioned to allow residents to take advantage of the excellent transport links. The homes here also provide the ideal opportunity to capitalise on the huge regeneration which is already underway in Slough.

Prices at Novus Apartments start from £199,950. Homes are now ready to move in to and there are tailor-made homebuyer incentives available. Find out more from Slough Urban Renewal.
