Energy-Efficient Homes Launched In West Sussex

Posted 9 March 2023 by Helen Christie

Sigma Homes has launched its most recent development, Hanlye View in Cuckfield in West Sussex…

Horsham-based Sigma Homes has launched Hanlye View in the traditional village of Cuckfield in West Sussex. The £8.3m scheme of 13 energy-efficient homes is bringing about the transformation of the former Court Meadow School, which lay vacant for 10 years.

Accessed off Hanlye Lane, work started on the 1.53-acre site last year. Nine of the 13 homes have now been placed on the market, with prices starting from £730,000. Ranging in size from 1,100 – 1,707sq.ft, the first of the three- and four-bedroom houses will be ready to move into before the end of September 2023.

Sigma Homes chose this prime site in Cuckfield to deliver a bespoke development featuring striking contemporary architecture. The layout of Hanlye View responds to the traditional settlement pattern found in the historic village.

New trees and hedgerows will be planted as part of the scheme, delivering biodiversity net gains. The 13 homes will also benefit from electric car charging points and high levels of insulation, to achieve a high EPC-B rating.

Geoff Potton, chief executive at Sigma Homes, says: “We are delighted to have launched our Hanlye View scheme. The redevelopment of this site will revitalise vacant land, while enhancing the local area with much needed high-quality homes. This development has already received a lot of early interest, highlighting the popularity of Cuckfield and the desirability of this affluent neighbourhood. Hanlye View is situated in an excellent location, which prospective buyers may struggle to find elsewhere in the village. With it bordering the High Weald AONB, but also being only 45 minutes away from central London via train, future residents will be able to tap into a country lifestyle with great commuter links. Now that construction work is well progressed, we have released homes for sale on an off-plan basis. As there will only be 13 family houses constructed here, we would advise all those interested to get in touch with us to view and discuss the plans.”

The collection of detached and semi-detached redbrick homes will feature luxury internal accommodation designed across two floors. Each property has been designed with attractive timber cladding, private gardens, bike storage and parking. Three of the four-bedroom homes, and one of the three-bedroom designs will have a 10sq.m contemporary garden room constructed as an additional facility for either home working, hobby, workshop, or storage space.

Located on the outskirts of Cuckfield, Hanlye Lane is within walking distance of an array of local amenities. Haywards Heath train station is two miles away, which has direct services to London Bridge in well under an hour. Close to the site is the A272, which connects with the A23 and onwards to the M23, providing fast road access across the south of England and beyond.

Within a 10-minute drive, there are a number of popular attractions including the National Trust’s Nyman’s Gardens and House, and the Michelin-starred Heritage by Matt Gillan restaurant in Slaugham, Haywards Heath. For families looking to relocate, there are a number of good schools and colleges close by, covering all ages.
