The first phase of houses and apartments have been released for sale at the conversion of Moreby Hall...

The transformation of a Grade II* listed home in York that was once owned by the High Sheriff of Yorkshire has been revealed with the launch of an exclusive collection of homes.

Considered one of the most prestigious properties in York, Moreby Hall, a Jacobean-style country house nestled between the villages of Escrick, Stillingfleet and Naburn, was built between 1828 and 1831 from ashar stone, and was one of the earliest works of the renowned architect Anthony Salvin.

Acquired by local property developers, the stately home’s renovation has culminated in the launch of the exciting development’s first properties. Ready for immediate occupation as part of the scheme’s first phase are seven mews-style houses and two apartments. One apartment, known as ‘The Footman’s Lodge’, comes with a guide price of £395,000 while ‘The Bath House’, a two-storey home, and ‘The Saddlery’, a four-storey home, come with a guide price of £450,000 and £695,000 respectively.

Moreby Hall (Savills)Each home, all of which enjoy spectacular views of the grounds, comes with two allocated car parking spaces and a high specification that benefits from open-plan living areas, high ceilings, bespoke kitchens with undermounted sinks and bathrooms featuring freestanding Burlington baths. The properties also comprise integrated appliances and Silestone worktops in the kitchens, original leaded windows in a diamond and herringbone formation, underfloor heating throughout the ground floors and individual air source heat pumps.

Anne Haggas, property agent in the Northern New Homes team at Savills, said: "Properties such as these just don’t come to the market very often because they are few and far between. In over 30 years of working within the property market, I have rarely come across such a meticulous attention to detail to the one that has been shown at Moreby Hall. The repurposed stately home is a wonderful reflection of how period homes and buildings can be transformed to create incredible spaces through real care, vision and workmanship.

“We anticipate the homes will appeal to a mix of buyers, particularly those moving out of the city but wanting to remain within striking distance. There is also the possibility of the properties attracting attention from London and international buyers that see potential for capital growth too. The pioneering development of Moreby Hall not only offers luxury living but also beautiful communal grounds of over 12 acres, giving it a real Bridgerton-type vibe.”

Prices at Moreby Hall start at £395,000. Find out more at www.savills.co.uk.
