House-hunters in Worcestershire who are looking for a first step on the property ladder on a modest budget are being invited by housing provider Sanctuary to visit Callows Rise, a new development of Shared Ownership homes in the historic market town of Tenbury Wells.

Callows Rise will appeal to a real variety of buyers thanks to its array of two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom homes which combine elements of traditional architecture with contemporary touches in a variety of finishes, resulting in attractive street scenes. There are one-, two- and three-storey property types which cater for different requirements. Common to all of them are excellent energy-efficient construction, a high-quality interior specification, and layouts that provide flexible living space.

Shared Ownership is a well-established and popular way to part buy-part rent a brand new home. Qualifying buyers start by purchasing a share of their new home, usually between 25% and 75%, which requires a much smaller deposit and mortgage than buying outright. They pay a subsidised rent to Sanctuary on the remaining percentage. Over time, if the want to and can afford it, they can buy further shares, called ‘staircasing’, until they own 100% of the property.

One of of property types currently for sale Introducing ‘The Inkberry’. This is a two-bedroom semi-detached home with ample space for a couple or small family. At the front is a kitchen/dining room and at the rear, a comfortable living room with lots of natural light through the French doors to the garden. There’s also a cloakroom and some useful understairs storage on the ground floor. Upstairs, the two bedrooms share the family bathroom, and there’s a useful utility storage cupboard too. This house starts at £86,000 for a 40% share (based on a full market value of £215,000.

Callows Rise is under a mile from Tenbury Wells’ town centre, where you’ll find a choice of shops, restaurants and supermarkets, including a Co-op and Tesco Superstore. Residents also benefit from a swimming pool, skate park and recreation grounds, with both a primary and secondary school within the Callows Rise area, just a short walk away from the development. The surrounding countryside includes Cleehill Summit under 20 minutes’ drive away and you can enjoy a number of hiking paths around the Shropshire Hills.

Ludlow is under 10 miles away and Hereford and Kidderminster are also an easy drive away, all these towns offering a wealth of shops and amenities as well as well-connected stations.

Callows Rise currently offers two- and three-bedroom Shared Ownership homes and two-, three- and four-bedroom bungalows and houses on the open market. Find out more about Callows Rise from Sanctuary.
