Cocker Spaniel Lands Job At Hampshire Development

Posted 16 October 2020 by Keith Osborne

A lovable Cocker Spaniel has become the star of a Hampshire development, after landing a coveted role as a hearing dog...

After training with national charity Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, a 22-month-old Cocker Spaniel called Honey has been assigned to Carol Anderson, who lives with hereditary deafness, at RoyaleLife’s Oakwood Court development in Bordon, Hampshire.

Now, the much-loved pup has proved such a hit with her proud owner – as well as her new neighbours – that she has become an ambassador for all working dogs provided at the charity.

“After my deafness became more severe, we decided to get in touch with the charity after reading about the work that Hearing Dogs do – and we have never looked back,” said Carol.

“We are currently undergoing training with Honey in preparation for her official graduation to a fully working Hearing Dog, but she has already won the hearts of the neighbourhood. All of our neighbours adore her, including the team at RoyaleLife, who couldn’t have been more accommodating.”

As a military family who had travelled extensively, most recently spending the last 12 years between their homes in Whitehall and Tatlisu, North Cyprus, Carol and her husband Andy discovered their “forever” home at RoyaleLife’s Oakwood Court.

The pet-friendly development offers luxury bungalow living for the over-45s while its high-quality homes and community atmosphere has proven a hit with buyers. Those living at the development enjoy its close proximity to the historic market towns of Farnham and Petersfield, as well as the picturesque Alice Holt Forest and Frensham Ponds, making it ideal for dog owners.

Carol added: “We chose RoyaleLife because of the sense of community and beautifully maintained grounds found at their developments. We explained to the friendly sales team of our aspirations of getting a Hearing Dog and they went above and beyond to help make our new home practical for Honey.

“Bordon is the perfect location for Honey as it provides plenty of outside space for her to enjoy time “off lead” – including at Hogmoor Enclosure which is directly outside Oakwood Court. We couldn’t have picked a better community to call our home.”

The rules for pet-ownership vary across all RoyaleLife developments.
