Stamp Duty Awareness Weekend Events Across England

Redrow Homes is hosting a Stamp Duty holiday event in many developments across England this weekend, offering would-be buyers the opportunity to learn more about the Stamp Duty changes that came into effect in July.

The Stamp Duty awareness weekend will take place at selected developments offering both new houses and apartments from 10.00am until 5.00pm on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September. Prospective buyers will be able to speak with Redrow sales consultants to find out more about how the government’s recent Stamp Duty holiday on house purchases up to the value of £500,000 can help them secure their ideal new home.

The nine-month long holiday exempts home movers buying a home under £500,000 from paying any Stamp Duty at all, resulting in savings of up to £15,000 on their purchase, and buyers of more expensive properties can save up to that amount too.

The positive move to stimulate the housing market and the wider economy has proved to be a boon for all buyer demographics, whether first-time buyers, next steppers or right-sizers.

Jamie Girvan and Natalie Walls are purchasing their first home together at Regent Quay, a Redrow community in Sittingbourne, Kent. Jamie is a financial adviser working in Canary Wharf and Natalie is a cabin crew member for British Airways.

“Finding out about the Stamp Duty holiday felt like the icing on the cake for us, as we’ll be saving almost £5,000 which we are re-investing back into the property by purchasing various extras and upgrades. The money is also being put towards a car, as although I’ll be working from home most days, it gives the option of driving into the office when I need to go in, rather than commuting on public transport.

"With the newly announced Stamp Duty holiday, Natalie and I have been able to invest some of the money saved back into the house by purchasing various extras and upgrades. Redrow has an online platform called MyRedrow where you can select different extras at specific stages of the build programme.

“We decided to opt for high-quality carpets throughout the house, an integrated dishwasher and thermostats in every room which can be controlled via an app on our phone. My girlfriend often travels for work and I tend to work long hours, so it's reassuring to know we'll have the ability to adjust the heating settings on the move and ensure we're being as energy efficient as possible.”
