First And Final Chances At Bedfordshire Sites
Bedfordshire house-hunters right now have an opportunity to snap up a home at a newly launched scheme, or seek out one of the very last for sale at another.
Redrow South Midlands’ Lucas Gardens, on Ivel Road in Shefford, now offers a selection of three- and four-bedroom homes as part of the development’s very first phase. This is the housebuilder’s third development in Bedfordshire and is set to bring some 90 houses from its 1930s-inspired Heritage Collection of designs.
Among the homes released is the four-bedroom ‘Harrogate’, available from £565,950. Cleverly designed to offer plenty of space for each member of the family, the home boasts an open-plan kitchen and dining area at its heart, which will quickly become a social hub of the home – as well as a master bedroom with its own en suite. The home also features an attached garage, in addition to a utility room, cloakroom and study.
Suzanne Irons, sales director for Redrow South Midlands, said: “We’ve seen an increase in homebuyers looking for more outdoor space and to be closer to the countryside, so we’re thrilled to release the first homes at our new Lucas Gardens development.
“The development is perfect for families, as we’re set to build generously proportioned three and four-bedroom homes, but also for commuters looking for more space – after all, King’s Cross is only 40 minutes away by train [from Arlesey station].
“Our other developments in the region have proved extremely popular with homebuyers looking for a unique combination of traditional charm and a contemporary, high-spec interior – and Lucas Gardens is no exception, as four of our homes have already been reserved. We’d invite anyone who likes the idea of living in a beautiful rural area, without compromising on amenities, to come and take a look at the development and our homes for themselves.”

Chalk Fields
The final homes have been released for sale at a new housing development in Bidwell which is due to be completed this summer. All but four of the properties have now been snapped up at Chalk Fields, a collection of two-, three- and four-bedroom homes being built by Ashberry Homes off Thorn Road.
When completed, the development will comprise a total of 88 homes, including 64 for private sale and 24 affordable properties for rent or Shared Ownership.
Rachael Gatehouse, Sales Manager at Ashberry Homes, said: “Chalk Fields is a collection of attractive homes in a highly desirable and well-connected location on the edge of Houghton Regis.
“Situated just two miles from Dunstable town centre, the development offers close proximity to many shops and local services, acres of open countryside, and good transport connections.
“Easy access to the A5 and M1 has made Chalk Fields a popular choice with people commuting to Luton and Milton Keynes, while buyers who work in London will benefit from being just a 15-minute drive from Leagrave railway station and direct trains to the capital.
“As well as delivering much-needed new homes and investment in Bidwell, Chalk Fields has also provided a public open space and allotments for the benefit of new and existing residents alike.”
As part of the combined planning agreement for this development and the neighbouring Bellway site, a total of £5.4million in funding is being provided by the two developers for local services and infrastructure. The contributions will include money for early years, primary and secondary education, highways, public transport, bus stop maintenance, and indoor and outdoor sports facilities.
