Five Favourite Reading New Homes Developments

Posted 25 November 2021 by Keith Osborne

The Berkshire town of Reading has a number of live new homes developments for house-hunters to investigate...

With a recent announcement of a target of the first half of 2022 to finally fully open the Crossrail network, there’s been renewed attention on the towns which will benefit from it, and Reading is a prime example, already benefitting from the creation of thousands of new homes at numerous current developments.

The planned journey time of 23 minutes to London Paddington and express access to the West End, City and Docklands areas is attracting people who know they can get more property for their money here than in Greater London. It’s not just about commuting though – the town also has many major companies and a thriving tech industry based locally.

With positive predictions for property price growth and lettings demand, investors as well as buyers have been drawn into Reading’s property market. There’s plenty of potential for the future though, such as plans for a brand new 4,500-home garden village in Grazeley, to the south of the town and close to the Science and Innovation Park.

Reading has its own wealth of shops, leisure, entertainment and sports venues and easy access to delightful countryside, providing something for everyone.

The WhatHouse? team has picked its five current favourite new homes developments in Reading, offering properties to suit a wide range of requirements and budgets.

Green Park VillageGreen Park Village

1. Green Park Village is on the southern fringes of the town and close to the M4, the Madejski Stadium and numerous lakes offering a host of watersports facilities. Its appeal has led to a successfully growing new community with homes ranging from modern-design apartment builds to New England-inspired houses. Among the plans for this development are a brand new primary school, market square and railway station.

Currently, a two-bedroom apartment starts at £395,000 and first-time purchasers have the opportunity to use the government-backed Help to Buy scheme to take a step onto the property ladder with a deposit of only 5%. St Edward has just released a new collection of four-bedroom houses which could make a perfect family home. Find out more about Green Park Village from St Edward.
