Speedy Reservations At Harrogate Later Living Development

Posted 7 December 2021 by Keith Osborne

McCarthy Stone saw keen interest in the new apartments coming to its over-70s Matcham Grange scheme...

Since its launch just a week ago, some 20% of the homes at WhatHouse? Award-winning specialist developer McCarthy Stone’s Matcham Grange Retirement Living Plus development in Harrogate have already been reserved.

Some 200 visitors attended the launch event held at The Old Swan Hotel to find out more about the scheme of 52 one- and two-bedroom apartments for over-70s, located on Wetherby Road. Residents benefit from the development’s own licenced bistro, gardens and communal lounge.

Each home comes with its own fitted kitchen, shower room, spacious living space, and some with private patios and balconies. It will also offer flexible care packages for those requiring additional support, now or in the future. It all adds up to what could be an ideal option for those looking for an independent, low-maintenance lifestyle with more time to do the things they enjoy, or for those looking for the comfort that comes with being surrounded by like-minded individuals and having a friendly face on-hand throughout the day in the form of an estates team.

Declan Fishwick, marketing executive for McCarthy Stone, commented: “It is no surprise that given Matcham Grange’s impressive location it has performed so well at sales launch. We believe developments such as these can play a really positive role for the wider community too. With the population of Harrogate expected to increase to 170,300 by 2030, this will put an inevitable amount of pressure on the local housing supply, meaning there will be too few properties for people’s needs. By moving to a McCarthy Stone development, local housing is then freed up for couples and families looking to move up the property ladder and we’ve seen this have a positive effect on the general housing chain.”

Matcham Grange was named as a tribute to Francis Matcham, the man behind the much-loved Harrogate landmark, the Royal Theatre.

McCarthy Stone has won multiple WhatHouse? Awards – considered the most prestigious awards for housebuilders in Britain – and an independent annual survey by the Home Builders Federation has found that more than nine out of 10 customers would recommend McCarthy Stone to a friend, ensuring it has received the full 5-star award for customer satisfaction for 16 years’ running, the only UK housebuilder of any size or type to achieve this.
