McCarthy Stone has unveiled a range of bungalows for over-60s and apartments for over-70s at two new developments...

McCarthy Stone – a winner of many prestigious WhatHouse? Awards in recent years – has announced new homes for over-60s and over-70s which are being released for sale on two brand new developments in Buckinghamshire.

The first homes have now been officially launched at Penny House, located on Lavendon Road, Olney. It will comprise of 48 Retirement Living Plus apartments for the over-70s. The new homes can be chosen off-plan and are available to purchase outright for those who would enjoy independent living with communal facilities on-site, 24-hour access to support from an estates manager, and optional tailored care packages. Retirees will also enjoy a licensed bistro serving hot meals daily, a wellness suite with a salon, and a spacious homeowner’s lounge.

Also under construction there is Teedon Gardens, which is a collection of 10 contemporary two-bedroom bungalows for the over-60s. Designed with independent retirees in mind, the bungalows feature private gardens, car parking spaces, impressive master bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms, and kitchens with high-quality units and appliances.

Sam Watkins, divisional sales director at McCarthy Stone, commented: “There is a structural shortage of suitable housing options for older people and more retirement communities are needed for the UK’s rapidly ageing population. We are therefore delighted to release the first selection of apartments and bungalows in Olney. Interest in these developments has been high given the beautiful village surroundings and thriving local community.”

Situated in the charming Georgian market town of Olney, Penny House and Teedon Gardens offers homeowners a community right on their doorstep, with the high street teeming with artisan food and drink providers, independent shops and unique suppliers for homeowners to enjoy. There’s also the weekly markets in Olney’s historical centre, as well as a monthly farmers’ market.

The town also provides residents with the best of both worlds. Olney is surrounded by gorgeous countryside and lies on the River Great Ouse, but the extensive amenities of Northampton, Milton Keynes, Bedford and Wellingborough are all within 10 miles of the retirement apartments and bungalows in Olney.

McCarthy Stone has also started construction on a new retirement community in Westcroft, near Milton Keynes, named Bluebell House, which will have one- and two-bedroom apartments, exclusively for the over 70s. The luxurious apartments will be available to buy off-plan from summer 2022, with first occupants expected to move in during December.

Sam Watkins added: “Milton Keynes is known as a relatively new city but the region has a rich natural history that we wanted to acknowledge in the naming of this development. The beautiful woodlands opposite Bluebell House will be perfect for retirees who enjoy the great outdoors, while the central location will also offer homeowners easy access to shops and local amenities. We look forward to showing the development in all its glory later this year.”

Once complete, this development will provide everything the over 70s could want for an enjoyable and independent retirement with an estate manager and experienced team on hand day and night to oversee the running of the development and will also provide tailored support packages to suit individual needs. There’s also a homeowners lounge, an on-site bistro, which will serve fresh and nutritious meal options for residents daily, as well as a salon and landscaped gardens.

Customers will also be able to choose from a range of flexible Retirement Living Plus solutions to suit them and their personal circumstances, whether they prefer to buy outright, rent or to take advantage of the part-buy/part-rent option.

Bluebell House is a stone’s throw from Howe Park Woods for scenic strolls and other outdoor activities. Milton Keynes itself is surrounded by beautiful green spaces with historic Bletchley Park just a few miles away. The development is also ideally positioned close to a selection of local amenities, including a host of supermarkets and cafes and boasts a state-of-the-art camera entry system, offering homeowners added peace of mind.

More than nine out of 10 customers would recommend McCarthy Stone to a friend, ensuring it has received the full five-star award for customer satisfaction from the Home Builders Federation for 16 years running.
