New Retirement Community In Hawkhurst

Helen ChristieA new collection of retirement homes in Hawkhurst is drawing inspiration from the region’s medieval past as the developer promises to promote the town’s history and support the local community.
Located on Highgate Hill, Weavers House is currently being developed by McCarthy Stone, the UK’s leading developer and manager of retirement communities. When complete, over 40 retirees from the local area will call Weavers House a home.
With construction currently underway, McCarthy Stone is taking the opportunity to shine a spotlight on Hawkhurst’s industrial past. The town was once a centre for both the burgeoning wool and hop growing industries during the late medieval period, and the former is the inspiration behind the name Weavers House.
Sam Watkins, divisional sales director at McCarthy Stone, says: “Local community is incredibly important to us at McCarthy Stone, and every new development is built with the surrounding town and residents in mind. It’s no different with Weavers House, and one of the ways we want to introduce ourselves to the town is by shining a spotlight on Hawkhurst’s rich history.”
Weavers House will comprise of one- and two-bedroom apartments, exclusively for over 60s who are looking to live their golden years to the fullest in a luxurious and easy-to-manage home. The stunning apartments will be available to buy off-plan from July 2022, with first occupants expected to move in January 2023. Prospective purchasers are urged to register their interest now to receive updates. A CGI has been released to show how the development will look once complete.
Watkins continues: “Hawkhurst is a beautiful town and a desirable location for retirees. We are therefore looking forward to opening the doors of Weavers House later this year. In the meantime, prospective homeowners should contact us to register their interest and book their space on the upcoming Discovery Day on Thursday 24 February.”
Conveniently located in the centre of town, Weavers House is near to a great range of local shops, cafes, a post office and a medical centre. Inside the development, homeowners can enjoy a communal lounge as well as beautiful south-facing landscaped gardens.
