Dates For The Diary At New Sunderland Retirement Development

Posted 10 September 2021 by Keith Osborne

A series of special events is taking place this autumn for residents and visitors at McCarthy Stone's Herriot Gardens...

Specialist developer and multiple WhatHouse? Award winner McCarthy Stone is hosting a number of events at its Herriot Gardens in Sunderland, all opportunities for people to come in person to the site and learn more about the lifestyle and new homes it offers.

Herriot Gardens comprises 59 one- and two-bedroom retirement homes, exclusive to the over-60s. Available for sale or to rent, these apartments are located close to Sunderland city centre and their modern design and specification are focused on the benefits to older buyers with features such as accessible layouts, well-positioned power points and the peace-of-mind of a 24-hour emergency call out and secure video entry system. Almost all these light and spacious properties feature either a Juliette balcony or a patio.

Socialising is high on the agenda in this retirement community, which has a contemporary and comfortable communal lounge, a handy hobbies room for activities and classes, and a luxurious guest suite for when people come to stay. What’s more, the landscaped garden offers a scenic place to relax and chat with friends. A friendly house manager looks after the facilities and can organise things for neighbours and friends to do.

On Wednesday 29 September, from 1.00pm to 3.00pm, there’s a Chocolate, Truffles & Treats event there. Visitors will be treated to a delightful afternoon hosted by Andrew Lloyd, chocolatier and entertainer, in the communal lounge. Throughout the afternoon you will have the opportunity to take a guided tour of the show apartments, the communal facilities and meet our friendly community there.

On Wednesday 20 October, between 11.00am and 4.00pm, there’s an Open Day, an opportunity to see in detail the homes and facilities available at Herriot Gardens and be inspired by the show apartments, as well as meet some of the residents and learn about life at the development.

On Saturday 20 November, from 1.00pm to 3.00pm, you can attend Afternoon Tea in the lounge. It’s another chance to take a guided tour of the show homes and communal facilities, and have a chat with residents about the social life on site and off.

Herriot Gardens is set within a conservation area close to all the amenities that Sunderland has to offer, including the green space of historic Mowbray Park. There is a bus stop within easy reach which quickly takes you into the heart of town where you’ll find a wealth of cafés, bars and eateries as well as your favourite high street stores and smaller independent shops. The popular seaside resort of Seaburn is also nearby.

Prices to purchase at Herriot Gardens start at £149,999 for a one-bedroom apartment and £194,999 for a two-bedroom apartment. Monthly rental prices (including service charge) start at £995 and £1,310.
