Keith OsborneWestmorland and Lonsdale MP, Tim Farron was recently welcomed by WhatHouse? Award-winning developer McCarthy Stone to its new Alavana Place Retirement Living development, taking shape in Kendal.
Once complete, Alavana Place will offer a choice of 33 one- and 22 two-bedroom light and spacious, low-maintenance apartments. Situated on Shap Road, it offers an opportunity to downsize to an age-exclusive development with on-site facilities such as shared garden, a communal lounge and terrace to meet with friends and neighbours, and a well-appointed hotel-style guest suite for visiting friends and family to stay. Set to open later this year, properties have already been released for sale here.
Mr Farron met with McCarthy Stone construction director, Iain Fleming, along with the site manager for a tour, where he also had the opportunity to review the development plans. He commented: “I was delighted to be invited to Alavana Place to explore what the development has to offer and meet the team who will be responsible for bringing the Kendal retirement community closer together.
“Developments such as Alavana Place offer an excellent solution for those looking to enjoy an independent and active lifestyle in retirement. I think it’s important that Kendal can offer not only greater housing choice for those looking to downsize, but the chance to become part of a welcoming and friendly community of like-minded individuals.”
Fleming added: “We were incredibly excited to be joined by Tim Farron at Alavana Place and shed light on the vibrant lifestyle we are proud to offer at every McCarthy Stone development. We are committed to delivering an exceptional lifestyle that offers all the home comforts for a relaxing, independent retirement, along with a choice of social and leisure activities right on the doorstep. When it opens in October, Alavana Place will be the perfect setting for retirees to live their retirement to the full and we strongly recommend anyone interested to come and visit us.”
A range of occupancy options are available at Alavana Place to make retiring in style more accessible, you can purchase outright from £240,000 for a one-bedroom apartment and from £310,000 for a two-bedroom apartment. McCarthy Stone also offers a Shared Ownership scheme (subject to availability) in conjunction with Homes England, prices currently start from £172,500 for a one-bedroom apartment and from £243,750 for a two-bedroom apartment (based on 75% ownership, with no rent payable).
