Show Apartment Opens In Bermondsey

Keith OsborneMultiple WhatHouse? Award-winning developer London Square has launched its first show apartment in The Pickle Factory in the heart of its London Square Bermondsey scheme.
The beautifully restored and converted building is the former manufacturing home of quintessentially British brand Branston Pickle for over 40 years. It’s part of a development combining a collection of heritage buildings with new build homes, set in 4.7 acres, with a garden square and courtyards, concierge, and gym. There are also studios and gallery spaces for Tannery Arts, who work with emerging artists and will run workshops and classes for the local community.
London Square Bermondsey is a short walk from fashionable Bermondsey Street, where galleries, cafés, bars and restaurants, alongside independent retailers, make it one of the most fascinating and quirky places in the capital.
Inspiration for the interiors of The Pickle Factory one-bedroom show apartment draws on the creative energy and independent spirit encompassed in Bermondsey’s artistic, fashion and foodie businesses. The apartment is framed by chic black industrial detailing, with Crittall-style windows and lighting tracks, sleek black cabinets in the kitchen and black steel shower and tap fittings in the bathroom.
Interior specialists Hunter Design chose a black metal and brass-trimmed sideboard as a statement piece, with monochrome furniture and rugs in the open-plan kitchen, dining and living area. Splashes of vibrant orange and fresh green bring bright accents to the spacious, light-filled living area and balcony. Quirky Branston Pickle artwork and a painting inspired by the vivid branding of The Fashion and Textile Museum adorn the walls. Accessories have all been sourced locally, with napkins, notebooks and coffee table books from The Fashion and Textile Museum in nearby Bermondsey Street and fig candles, ceramics and accessories from Bermondsey business Lovely and British, along with goods from Brindisa in Borough Market and Bermondsey Bees honey in the kitchen.
Jo McDonagh, sales and marketing director, London Square, said: “Our new show apartment captures the essence of the lifestyle on offer in Bermondsey, with its amazing artistic, fashion and cultural spots, alongside independent food and drink producers, cafés, bars and restaurants. The area has been ranked as the best place to live in London by the Sunday Times and our purchasers have the attractions of Bermondsey Street, Borough Market and theatres, galleries and museums all within walking distance.”
London Square Bermondsey is a four-minute walk to Bermondsey Street, 12 minutes to London Bridge station and close to cycle and walking routes to the City and West End. The Pickle Factory warehouse-style apartments will be ready to move into in Spring 2022, where there are one-bedroom apartments with balconies from £685,000, two-bedroom homes from £920,000 and a sixth-floor three-bedroom apartment with a 33-ft living area and balcony at £1.675million. There is underground parking available.
