Art Deco-Inspired Show Home Opens In Greenwich

Posted 29 November 2021 by Keith Osborne

Developer London Square has got interior design experts Honky to produce a one-bedroom show apartment...

Award-winning developer London Square has launched an Art Deco-inspired show home and sales suite by leading interior designers Honky at London Square Greenwich – a boutique scheme in one of the capital’s most fashionable and historic places to live in Royal Greenwich.

The bespoke collection of 46 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, already over 50% sold, is located on Royal Hill, in the heart of West Greenwich village, renowned for its neighbourhood feel and position next to the Royal Park – 183 acres of beautiful landscapes and dazzling views over the capital in one of London’s greenest boroughs.

In the new one-bedroom show home, Honky has channelled the sleek lines and linear curves of the striking London Square building, designed by Formation Architects, which complements the Grade II listed former Greenwich Town Hall located opposite, an internationally renowned example of Art Deco style.

London Square GreenwichWith bursts of apple green and bright orange on chairs, cushions and accessories, the interiors exude style and energy. In the open-plan living area, a funky desk cabinet with a monochrome Deco-style design, specially created by Honky, provides a clever solution to working from home. Honky design director Paul Dawson explained: “Sliding doors on the cabinet give you the option of hiding away your desk and screen completely, to provide that essential break from work to relaxation at the end of the day.”

Muted colours and warm fabrics create a sanctuary in the bedroom, with sleek dark metal finishes on the fitted wardrobes. Fluted panelling adds a glamorous flourish to the front door to each apartment, with specially commissioned black and white photography of the area adorning the walls in the common parts of the building. The sales suite has also been styled by Honky, with a striking white glazed tiled wall at the entrance.

Jo McDonagh, sales and marketing director, London Square, said: “Honky has captured the understated glamour of the Art Deco age in our show home and sales suite, creating an immaculate showcase for buyers to appreciate the unrivalled design and lifestyle on offer at London Square Greenwich. This building is a modern classic, destined to become a much-loved landmark alongside some of the architectural legends.”

London Square GreenwichApartment interiors are designed to the highest standards, with quality specification, finishes and craftsmanship demonstrating lavish attention to detail. Open-plan living creates light and spacious homes for entertaining and relaxing, with room for working from home. Every apartment has a balcony or terrace for al fresco living, with some homes enjoying views over the London skyline or the private landscaped garden.

A concierge service will be provided, to make daily living hassle-free. The development is car-free due to its central location, with extensive cycle storage for residents. The scheme is in an unrivalled location in a conservation area where there are no other residential developments in the pipeline, with a charming mix of quaint cottages, Georgian houses, independent shops, cafés, delis and restaurants.

Greenwich has played an important role in history, not only in London but on the world stage, with a rich maritime, regal and scientific lineage. It is home to a collection of the finest buildings, including Inigo Jones’ Queen’s House, Sir Christopher Wren’s Old Royal Naval College and the Royal Observatory, home of Greenwich Mean Time, and the Prime Meridian Line of the World. The area is a UNESCO World Heritage site, attracting 18 million visitors a year, spending over £1billion in the local economy.

London Square GreenwichThe rolling green spaces and woods of the Royal Park at Greenwich, with its formal gardens, ancient trees and deer park, is a four-minute walk from the development. There are over 3,000 acres of open spaces across more than 50 parks and nature reserves – 26% of the borough – making Greenwich one of the greenest areas to live in London. Greenwich Market, with stalls selling food, antiques, jewellery and fashion, is a six-minute walk. The Thames is a 12-minute walk away, close to the Cutty Sark, the celebrated historic sailing ship, which stands in a dry dock.

There are superb transport connections to the City and West End of London, with a choice of rail and DLR services at Greenwich station, just five minutes from London Square Greenwich, with an eight-minute journey to London Bridge, a 10-minute journey to Canary Wharf, and 14 minutes to the City at Cannon Street, plus 24 minutes to London City Airport. By river from Greenwich Pier, the Uber Thames Clipper reaches Tower Bridge in the City in 20 minutes and the London Eye on the South Bank in 35 minutes. The Emirates Air Line, the cable car across the Thames at Greenwich Peninsula runs regular services to the Royal Docks, south of the Thames. The University of Greenwich is a five-minute walk from the development and there are excellent train and Tube connections to London’s leading universities. There are also highly rated primary, secondary and independent schools close to London Square Greenwich.

There is an opportunity to reserve and choose from selected choices and upgrades to personalise your new home at London Square Greenwich. Prices for a one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment with balcony start from £500,000, with two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartments with balcony from £660,000 and three-bedroom, two-bathroom apartments with balcony from £760,000.
