Housing Provider’s Shared Ownership Opportunities In West Midlands

Posted 20 January 2023 by Keith Osborne

Latimer is offering an opportunity to part buy-part rent brand new homes at developments near Birmingham and Coventry...

Latimer, part of the Clarion Housing Group, is offering Midlands families two options for Shared Ownership properties at developments called Frankley Green, near Birmingham, and Brindley Green, on the outskirts of Coventry.

The developments support the greater flexibility that families now have when it comes to choosing where they live. With so many workers less rigorously tied to being in the office, families have the freedom to choose locations that decouple them from the rat race, while still providing easy city access when required.

Frankley Green in Northfield enjoys a parkland setting, surrounded by 2.4 acres of sprawling greenery, ponds and woodland, along with a gently meandering stream. There’s an ecology park on the doorstep, along with abundant nature trails and cycling and running routes. The development offers one-, two- and three-bedroom homes with prices currently starting from £113,750 for a 35% share of for a three-bedroom home (full market value £325,000). With the benefits of fresh air and outdoor exercise on the doorstep, it’s also less than a half hour by car from Birmingham city centre.

At Brindley Green are two- and three-bedroom homes available with Shared Ownership, located only around a 15-minute drive from the centre of Coventry and a 33-minute drive from central Birmingham. They enjoy a delightful tranquil setting on the edge of the Coventry Canal in Longford, a popular collection of neighbourhoods and villages to the north of Coventry. Prices start from £90,000 for a 40% share (full market value £225,000).

At both developments, the newly built homes deliver smart, traditional exteriors, with high-specification interiors. Frankley Green properties feature neutral, natural tones aligned to the parkland setting, while Brindley Green interiors exude a warmth and comfort that resonates perfectly with village life.

Both Frankley Green and Brindley Green also provide families with the opportunity to buy into local areas that are tipped for future growth. Frankley Green is ideally located for a proposed new school and community hub in the Northfield area. Brindley Green will form part of a larger canalside development.

Shared Ownership opportunities are not often available in these locations, meaning the Latimer developments present a rare chance for Midlands families wanting to get onto the property ladder. Shared Ownership is designed as a stepping stone to completely owning your own home, allowing you to purchase a percentage of the home and pay rent to the housing provider on the remaining portion. You can increase the percentage you own when you can afford to do so, which is called staircasing.

Richard Cook, group director of development at the Clarion Housing Group, commented: “We’re delighted to be supporting hard-working Midlands families to take their first step onto the housing ladder with two such lovely developments. These locations and the high-quality homes at both Frankley Green and Brindley Green are perfectly suited to contemporary family life, while shared ownership is the ideal way for families to staircase their way to property ownership in a way that suits their evolving circumstances.”
