Shared Ownership Homes Coming To Cambridge This Spring

Posted 15 April 2021 by Keith Osborne

A first collection of affordable homes for first-time buyers and young families is being unveiled by L&Q at Marleigh...

On Saturday 24 April, the highly anticipated Shared Ownership homes will be launching at L&Q at Marleigh.

The coveted east Cambridge Marleigh development formerly known as Wing, on Newmarket Road, will bring forward a vibrant community of 1,300 new homes, supported by new amenities including a primary and nursery schools, a variety of outdoor spaces and parks with a new cycle and walking routes making this a unique opportunity for local people to get onto the property ladder with L&Q.

L&Q at Marleigh is a collection of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments and two-, three- and four-bedroom houses with the first phase of two- and four-bedroom homes launching on the weekend of 24 and 25 April. Prices for these brand new homes will start at £96,250 for a 25% share of a two-bedroom house (full market value £385,000) and £127,500 for a 25% share of a four-bedroom house (full market value £510,000).

These contemporary homes will provide generous internal layouts, perfect for modern-day living, additional space and versatile rooms, ideal for growing families. All homes are inclusive of flooring, white goods and integrated appliances at no additional cost.

Shared Ownership is designed to help first-time buyers who may feel priced out of the market onto the housing ladder. The purchaser buys a share in the property, usually at least 25%, while renting the share they do not own at a subsidised rate. Buying through Shared Ownership often allows first-time buyers to get onto the ladder with a smaller deposit than would be required if they were buying on the open market – from as little as 5% of the share being purchased. Minimum deposits at L&Q at Marleigh start from £4,813 for a 25% share of a two-bedroom house.
