The company has been granted planning permission for Phases 8 and 9 of the Green Hills project, proposing a total of 149 high-quality homes to the market, offering a mix of two, three, and four-bedroom properties designed to cater to a broad spectrum of homebuyers.
In partnership with Together Housing, a prominent Northern-based housing association, Kingswood Homes will offer 112 units of which over half will be shared ownership with 53 being available to rent. The remaining 37 houses will be sold as open market homes, maintaining Kingswood's commitment to diverse housing solutions.
Paul Jones, Managing Director of Kingswood Homes, stated, "Our vision for Green Hills has always been to create a thriving, inclusive community. This new phase represents our dedication to addressing the pressing need for mixed tenure homes while maintaining the high standards of quality and design that Kingswood Homes is known for."
The development will feature a range of housing options, including a rent to buy option allowing the people who rent homes the ability to purchase them in the future. Those who choose to take shared ownership will be able to staircase out into full ownership if and when they choose. There will also be a number of bungalows. This initiative aligns with the government's efforts to tackle the housing crisis and provide affordable pathways to homeownership.
Dai Howells, Assistant Director of Development at Together Housing said: “We’re pleased to be working with Kingswood Homes on our aligned vision to create a community that offers high-quality, affordable homes in the Blackburn area. Our commitment to responding to diverse housing needs in the town has been a driving force of our investment in the borough which has been strengthened by the approval of this next phase of the Green Hills development.”
Complementing the residential offerings, the new phase will incorporate expansive green spaces, including a wildflower meadow and a linear park, enhancing the community's connection with nature and promoting a healthy lifestyle for residents.
Kingswood Homes is also committing to additional Section 106 financial contributions, supporting local education and infrastructure development as part of its commitment to community growth.
This project, which is in receipt of Homes England funding, will mark a significant step forward in addressing housing affordability in the Blackburn area while maintaining the high standards of living that Green Hills residents have come to expect.
