A vibrant community is forming at a new housing development in Lenham, where over two-thirds of the homes have been completed.

Residents have now moved into 48 of the 70 properties being built by Jones Homes at its Westwood Park site, located off Ham Lane. The housebuilder says the development has been popular with a wide mix of buyers from all walks of life, with just 16 homes remaining at the development.

Sara Stanhope, sales and marketing director for Jones Homes Southern, said: “We’ve seen a real mix of people buying at Westwood Park, from young couples and families to retirees. This is partly a result of the wide variety of house sizes and designs that we have provided and has helped to create a thriving new community in Lenham.

“Interest has been consistently high ever since we launched the site at the beginning of last year, and demand has been accelerated by the rise in homeworking since the start of the pandemic. A large selection of buyers at Westwood Park have been people relocating from south-east London because they no longer need to commute to the office every day.

“Space has become extremely important to people following the experience of lockdown, and buyers are increasingly prioritising large gardens and rural locations. Westwood Park meets both of those criteria, with Lenham’s historic village square just a 10-minute walk away and the Kent Downs right on the doorstep.

“While Maidstone and Ashford are just a short drive away, Lenham itself has all of the general day-to-day amenities residents need such as restaurants, bakeries, groceries and more, all just a short walk away.”

Westwood Park is the latest development to be delivered by Jones Homes in Lenham, following the completion of Westwood Grange which provided 19 new homes to the village in 2013. As part of the planning agreement for Westwood Park, Jones Homes is providing funding of £290,000 for local services. Contributions include £140,000 for primary school places, £60,000 towards the creation of green open space, and £55,000 for healthcare.

Building work began at Westwood Park in the summer of 2019, with homes going on sale six months later. The first residents moved into their homes in October 2020, and construction is due to come to an end next summer.

A selection of four-bedroom houses are currently for sale at Westwood Park, with prices starting from £460,000. The only five-bedroom property at the development is also available, priced at £850,000. More four-bedroom detached houses are due to be released onto the market next spring.
