65 NHS Workers Make A Move With Deposit Contribution

Keith OsborneSince the launch of its NHS Deposit Contribution Scheme on 23 May, David Wilson Homes South Midlands has helped 65 NHS employees secure a new home.
The scheme was launched by parent company Barratt Developments – WhatHouse? Housebuilder of the Year 2019 – and involves NHS employees receiving a 5% contribution towards their deposit, up to £15,000, to help them buy a new home as a thank you for their hard work during the Covid-19 crisis.
Since the introduction of the scheme, David Wilson Homes has helped NHS workers across its operational areas of Cambridgeshire, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, and Northamptonshire, with 65 properties reserved using the scheme so far.
The NHS incentive can also be used in conjunction with the government Help to Buy scheme while in the Summer Budget announcement, the Chancellor Rishi Sunak declared there would be no Stamp Duty to pay on properties up to the value of £500,000 on sales that have legally completed before 31 March 2021. It’s estimated that the scrapping of Stamp Duty will benefit nine in ten homebuyers in England and Northern Ireland, saving £4,500 on the average purchase and £15,000 on a purchase of a half-million pound property, making it an ideal time for serious house-hunting.
Jason Hearn, sales director at David Wilson Homes South Midlands, said: “It’s brilliant to see NHS workers in the county are making use of the NHS Deposit Contribution Scheme. The National Health Service has worked incredibly hard during the Covid-19 pandemic and we are really pleased that the scheme is already benefiting those who deserve it the most.”
David Wilson Homes is currently building properties at Romans’ Edge in Godmanchester and its development in Warboys. It has also started work on its upcoming sites in Needingworth and Ramsey.
