Mum Plays ‘Bricklayer’ For New Home In Wimborne

Keith OsborneA mother-of-three has been helping to lay down bricks for the new home she’s bought in the Dorset location loved by her whole family.
Emma Mitchell (49) has purchased a home at David Wilson Homes’ Quarter Jack Park development in Wimborne, close to where she used to spend summers with her family, and was invited to the leading housebuilder’s site to lay one of the property’s first bricks.
The excited mum will be moving into the popular Dorset development with her youngest daughter Becky (19) in early 2023, and both donned hard hats and high-vis jackets for a bit of bricklaying last month.
Thrilled to play a part in her new property’s build, Emma said: “I’m not sure either me or Becky will go on to have a career in bricklaying, but this was a great thing for us to be involved with. Knowing we played a small part in the building of our new home, will be something we’ll never forget.”
And, with Emma’s new home in a development close to where she’s spent many a holiday over the years, the homebuyer can’t wait to see the build progress and for move-in date to arrive.
She added: “My family and I are all from London, but we moved to the south coast just over five years ago when we decided to set up home somewhere new. When I asked my daughters where they’d like to move to, they all were all in agreement – the Bournemouth area where they’d holidayed as kids! My parents have a caravan in Bournemouth so we would often come down this way when the children were small. It’s a beautiful area, so I can see exactly why it was the place they wanted to live – and I’m with them – I can’t wait to move into my brand new home.”
It’s not just the area nearby that is loved by Emma’s family, either – her eldest daughter, Leigh-anne (27), has already moved into Quarter Jack Park with her boyfriend, Carl, and 10-month-old son, Mason. This was enough to confirm for Emma that the David Wilson Homes’ development in Wimborne was also where she wanted to set up home.
She added: “With Leigh-anne already living at Quarter Jack Park, I knew exactly what to expect. It’s a safe community, with plenty of places nearby to walk my three dogs. And, with the bonus of having my daughter and grandson living just down the road, I didn’t think twice. We are a really close family, so being able to live within easy reach of each other in a location we all love, is absolutely perfect.”
Emma’s other daughter, Daniella (22), lives in nearby Upton. Daniella is also keen to move closer to the development soon.
Emma and her daughter, Becky, are now awaiting their move-in date and will be setting up home in their chosen three-bedroom ‘Archford’ style property, in the new year.
Tammy Bishop, Barratt Homes sales director, Southampton division, is pleased to hear that the David Wilson development will become home for the mother and daughter. She said: “With its acres of open space and countryside and coast within easy reach, Quarter Jack Park is a beautiful place to call home. I can see why the family have made the decision to move here. It was great to welcome Emma and Becky on site to lay some first bricks in the build of their new home, and I wish them all the best for their move early next year.”
