There are only three homes left for sale at Tarka Ridge, being built by David Wilson Homes in Yelland, just a few miles from Barnstaple town centre.

It’s been a popular site since launch – and even the sales advisor on site liked the homes so much that she and her architect husband decided to snap one up for themselves and have now moved in.

Jacquie Mears and her husband Perry, an architect based in the local area, were about to embark on their own self-build project after they finished renovating their character Devon cottage but the quality of the homes at Tarka Ridge, its growing popularity, plus the green location, made them change their minds. Jacquie persuaded Perry to cast his professional eye over the homes and he was equally impressed, so they quickly sealed the deal and bought a ‘Cornell’ home, which they have now moved into.

Made up of a range of three-, four- and five-bedroom houses, all offering spacious contemporary living, it is the location, with direct access to the popular Tarka Trail and just a few miles from the stunning north Devon beaches of Instow and Saunton Sands, that sets the development apart and is one of the main reasons behind its popularity.

Tarka RidgeLocated on the banks of the River Taw, minutes outside the village of Yelland, the homes are ideally located for walks and bike rides in the beautiful Devon countryside. Also nearby is the town of Barnstaple, providing a range of local shops, cafés and restaurants.

Jacquie and Perry's four-bedroom detached home has a large open-plan kitchen/dining area with doors onto the garden making it perfect for entertaining.

The clever design maximises natural day light and is a pleasure to live in, she said: “We have our master bedroom and use the other bedrooms as a dressing room and a study – and even the cats have their own room! The layout downstairs is really the main attraction for us. We have a huge living room with windows on three sides which makes it so light that we spend most of our time there."

So far, 132 of the homes at Tarka Ridge have been sold and Jacquie is confident the remaining few will sell quickly: “We only have three homes left and I don't expect them to be around for long as this area of Devon has become so popular and this really is a very special place to live. I like to think that many of the people who buy here do so because we've moved here ourselves – it's the stamp of approval they're looking for."

Nicki Reid, sales director at David Wilson Homes Exeter, said: "It is no surprise that Tarka Ridge has been popular, with both the charm of village life coupled with the wonders of the great outdoors on your doorstep, it offers the best of both worlds."

The remaining four- and five-bedroom homes are priced from £440,000 and can be viewed by appointment with the sales office. Live, virtual smartphone tours with the sales team are also available. Find out more about Tarka Ridge from David Wilson Homes.
