Two Off-Plan Launches From Housebuilder In Bedfordshire

Posted 27 January 2022 by Keith Osborne

Dandara is attracting 'early bird' buyers to a range of home types at two new developments close to Bedford...

Independent housebuilder Dandara, a multiple winner of prestigious WhatHouse? Awards – has announced the off-plan launch of two brand new developments in Bedfordshire.

With energy bills set to increase later this year by up to 50%, new build, high-quality and, most importantly, energy-efficient homes will be welcome news to local prospective buyers.

The Oaks development, located on Yelnow Lane, Sharnbrook, just nine miles north of the Bedford, offers a versatile range of two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom homes. It will include 51 homes, of which 30% will be affordable. The homes are expected to be ready to move into by summer 2022, and will sit on generously sized plots, with airy open-plan living spaces, spacious gardens and a garage or parking space. Prices start at £315,000 for a two-bedroom semi-detached home.

As buyers’ priorities have changed due to Covid-19, many seek to make the move out of cities and into villages where they can make the most of their time outside of work. Interest in the development so far has come from couples, young and established families, as well as downsizers. There are a range of excellent schools in the area from nurseries to sixth forms.

Simon Pendlebury, sales and marketing director for Dandara Northern Home Counties, commented: “The Oaks will offer growing families the perfect opportunity to upsize whilst also giving local first time buyers the opportunity to get onto the property ladder as many of our homes available with Help to Buy.

“We’ve had a number of homes reserved as homebuyers want to take advantage of the great value for money these homes offer. Sharnbrook is a great location that benefits from Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ schools and easy access to fantastic cities like London and Brighton so we only expect this initial momentum to grow.”

Excellent road links are available from the development, with easy access to A6 for journeys to Bedford, Luton and Kettering. Northampton can be reached via the A45 and Cambridge via the A14. Bedford town train station offers services to Brighton, Corby, Gatwick Airport and London St Pancras.

The Chartwell'Chartwell' house type at Saxon Park

Dandara has also just launched a brand new range of family homes off-plan in the historic town of Biddenham, The Saxon Park development is located only a couple of miles from the Bedford town centre, and will offer two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom homes. In total there will be 229 homes, of which 68 will be affordable. The development is already proving popular, with nine plots already reserved. The homes are expected to be ready to move into by summer 2022. Prices right now start at £415,000 for a three-bedroom home.

The range of homes here will feature airy open-plan living spaces, high-specification kitchens and contemporary bathrooms. The homes also incorporate energy-efficient features throughout. Once complete, residents will be able to enjoy tranquil open space throughout the development.

Simon Pendlebury commented: “New homes have always been a popular choice for homebuyers looking for style and comfort, but as energy bills spiral out of control, this popularity is rising amongst those who are hoping to reduce the cost of living. It is clear from our recent increase in enquiries that the benefits of new homes are becoming a clear winner over older properties – especially for those who are worried about insulation, energy efficiency and monthly bills.”

“We expect Saxon Park to be popular for this reason, as well as the fact that it offers a quiet lifestyle whilst remaining connected to Bedford which is bursting with history and culture. These homes offer great value for money and buying off-plan has many advantages including having a say on final fixtures, so we want to encourage anyone interested to get in touch.”

Saxon Park is located in the quiet market town of Biddenham. With easy access to Bedford, residents will benefit from a superb range of high street shops and plenty of independent cafes and restaurants nearby. There are also a range of galleries museums, like Higgins Bedford, as well as cinemas. Perfect for families, the area has plenty of Ofsted rated Outstanding schools like St Thomas More Catholic Secondary School.

Excellent road links are available from the development, with easy access to A428, A421 and A6, for journeys to Milton Keynes, Northampton and Cambridge.
