Keith OsborneWest Sussex has a wide appeal to house-hunters thanks to its rage of towns and villages, excellent road and rail links, and some beautiful countryside and coastline. There’s always keen interest in launches of new homes around the county and there are two that have just been announced.
WhatHouse? Award-winning developer Dandara is unveiling its latest project, Fontwell Meadows, on the weekend of Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 November, which will include the unveiling of three show houses. The development will provide 400 new homes (a mixture of one- and two-bedroom apartments and two-, three- and four-bedroom houses) in Fontwell, on the edge of the village of Barnham in West Sussex, just five miles away from the seaside resort of Bognor Regis and close to the beautiful green expanse of the South Downs.
Set in an attractive, semi-rural location, with a masterplan including paddocks, a wildlife meadow, allotments, a multi-use games area, play area and fitness trail, Fontwell Meadows will appeal to lovers of both countryside and coast, with the added bonus of the towns of Chichester, Arundel, Portsmouth, Worthing and Brighton all within easy reach.
The homes have been designed to reflect the local architecture, with brick, flint, weatherboarding, rendering, tile hanging and painted bricks providing interesting detailing. The development has been designed with a series of five different character areas to create attractive street scenes and a sense of place – ranging from larger more imposing homes and mature trees in the Gateway area to suburban designs alongside London Road and a more village feel in the centre. Towards the edge of the development, enclosed “rural courtyards” respond in scale and form to the nearby farmhouse and barns.
To give visitors the chance to experience different facets of the development, Dandara has created three show homes: the two-bedroom ‘Vyne’ house type with an open-plan living, dining and kitchen area and French doors to the rear garden; the three-bedroom ‘Charleston’ with an en suite to the master bedroom; and the double-fronted ‘Farringford’ design with a separate utility room and dual-aspect living area. Hatch Interiors has decorated the interior of the ‘Vyne’, while Abode has created exciting designs for the two larger homes.

Two new show homes have been launched by Bovis Homes at Minerva Heights, a contemporary collection of three- and four-bedroom houses close to Chichester. They can also create and email themselves a personalised brochure for a home – which has a CGI representation of the kitchen, bathroom and flooring.
