New Neighbourhood To Launch In Bodmin
Posted 7 December 2023 by
Helen ChristieBodmin-based bunnyhomes will unveil a new neighbourhood of just 170 new homes when it opens its doors at its 14-acre John the Watchmaker’s Great Country Park in the town next spring.
In a first for Bodmin, the new neighbourhood combines the charm of bunnyhomes’ elegant Georgian-inspired new homes with a ‘Spa Park’ - a lovely green space around which the new homes are purposefully designed. The aim is to promote wellbeing as an integral part of the neighbourhood via a dedicated, restful outdoor area for residents to enjoy.
The new homes include a collection of two-, three- and four-bedroom homes from bunnyhomes’ Craft Collection, including 95 homes for sale and 24 apartments for rent. In addition, and working closely with Cornwall Council, bunnyhomes is creating 51 ‘local parish homes’ to enable local people to stay close to their families and way of life in Bodmin.
Barry Stiles, managing director at bunnyhomes, says: “While we have been bringing new neighbourhoods to Cornwall and Devon since 2013, our home is in Bodmin so we’re naturally excited to share our vision of this elegant new neighbourhood, and welcome visitors to see it for themselves. It’s our purpose to create beautiful neighbourhoods people are proud to come home to. The result is that a great deal of thought and care goes into every stage of the planning and delivery of our hand crafted, traditionally built homes, to ensure every new neighbourhood is unique and special.”
John the Watchmaker’s Great Country Park (‘The Watchmakers’ for short), is named as a nod to Bodmin-born 18th Century watchmaker and inventor John Arnold, who pioneered the UK’s first precision chronometers and timepieces from which current-day wrist watches are derived.
All the new homes at The Watchmakers are selected from its beautiful ‘Craft Collection’ and are set around the ‘Spa Park’, which gives residents an impressive 1.5 acres of open space across the neighbourhood. The location of the new homes has been carefully considered, with each home set apart from its neighbour to prioritise space and light. Looking out towards Bodmin Beacon, the vistas are impressive too.
Barry adds: “Our approach at bunnyhomes is never about fitting in as many homes as we can. On the contrary, we are incredibly passionate about using the space in the best way possible for the people who will be living in our new neighbourhoods, by providing homes that lend themselves to the overall wellbeing of every new resident. It is called ‘eudemonia’ and places wellbeing at the heart of everything we do. We think of it as a unique approach to homes creation and it is some we are extremely proud of.”
While The Watchmakers is set to officially launch next Spring, bunnyhomes is anticipating a great deal of interest in this new neighbourhood, as it is remarkably different to anything Bodmin has had to offer new homeowners before.
