New Mixed-Use Neighbourhood In Birmingham
Berkeley St Joseph has announced the launch of a new high quality mixed-use development in Birmingham's Eastside, catering to home seekers looking to embrace quality city living, blending work and social life into one neighbourhood.
The new canal-side development, named Glasswater Locks, cements Berkeley St Joseph’s commitment to delivering a high standard of residential living for the city of Birmingham and the wider Midlands.
Glasswater Locks is located in the heart of Birmingham’s Learning Quarter, close to the city centre and the upcoming HS2 Curzon Street railway station. It will feature 716 high quality one-, two- and three-bedroom contemporary apartments and duplexes across seven blocks, alongside 20,000 sq ft of commercial space for local businesses and amenities.
The apartments will be finished to a high specification and residents’ facilities will include a 24 hour concierge, business lounge, games room, cinema and gym, as well as a mix of commercial space housing local businesses, from restaurants to office space.
Mark Evans, partner, regional residential development at Knight Frank says: “The Birmingham Market analysis report outlines the boom the city is experiencing in terms of population growth, relocation of high profile employers and investment from companies such as Berkeley St Joseph. The projected population growth of 5% in the next 10 years proves that Birmingham is continuing to boom and as demand grows, the property market is reflecting that.”
The report also reveals that 47% of the population in Central Birmingham is aged between 20 and 34, consolidating the city’s reputation as a young and vibrant centre that is attractive to both students and young professionals with 49% of graduates remaining in Birmingham post graduation.
Marcus Blake, regional managing director at Berkeley St Joseph, says: “Glasswater Locks symbolises the next step in Berkeley St Joseph’s ambitious long-term vision for Birmingham and the wider Midlands to continue delivering high quality developments.
“With five universities located in Birmingham and a growing number of businesses looking for new talent, there is a real market of professionals and graduates looking for quality homes in the city. Glasswater Locks will serve this increasing demand and will allow residents to easily integrate their work, home and social lives."
Berkeley St Joseph arrived in Birmingham in 2018 and launched its first award-winning development Snow Hill Wharf, located in the city’s Gun Quarter, featuring hotel-style resident's facilities including a gym, sauna, steam room, cinema and lounge.
