Bellway Announces Spring Launches Across England

Posted 15 January 2021 by Keith Osborne

The housebuilder has announced developments coming soon to Leicestershire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Somerset...

Bellway, the WhatHouse? Award-winning national housebuilder, has announced several new development launches taking place across England this spring.

The Vale is a 60-home development being built a mile east of the historic Leicestershire village of Bottesford. It will consist of two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom houses for sale, as well as 19 affordable homes for rent or Shared Ownership. A show home will be unveiled after the official launch and the first residents are expected to move in during the summer.

Claire Black, sales manager for Bellway East Midlands, said: “After spending more time at home in 2020, more people are deciding to move to a property that better suits their needs, whether that’s a space for homeworking or a bigger garden, and we expect that trend to continue in 2021.

“The Vale will offer a wide range of homes to cater for those changing needs, all within walking distance of the attractive village centre, which boasts a number of historic buildings and a selection of restaurants and pubs.

“We anticipate that the development will be particularly popular with families, as Bottesford Church of England Primary School, and secondary school The Priory Belvoir Academy, are both located within the village and are both rated ‘good’ by Ofsted. Bottesford also offers plenty of options for commuters.”

The Roman Gate development, just a mile south-west of Melton Mowbray town centre, will open to the public on the release of its first homes. Bellway is part of a consortium bringing a total of 520 new properties to the site and the company will be offering a mix of two-, three- and four-bedroom properties home to buy when the sales office opens its doors.

Black commented: “We’re already seeing lots of interest in the development, which really highlights the need for new housing in this part of Leicestershire. As the lead developer in the consortium, we are pleased to be meeting this demand for new homes in Melton Mowbray.

“All the homes at Roman Gate will be from our Artisan Collection, a new range of house types devised following decades of customer input and which combine traditional craftsmanship with modern construction techniques.

“As well as delivering new homes for the town, we will be contributing significant sums of money to support vital services in the area, including education and transport.” Financial contributions being made by the consortium will include £4.5million towards road improvements, £530,000 for education and £500,000 towards sustainable transport.

Mead Fields will provide 150 new homes to Weston-super-Mare, a collection of one- and two-bedroom apartments and two-, three- and four-bedroom houses. Bellway has brought the original May launch date forward to March due to high demand. Around 800 people have already registered an interest in the development.

Bellway’s plans form part of a wider neighbourhood of 1,150 new homes granted planning permission by North Somerset Council, with proposals for new community amenities including a primary school, public open space, and sports facilities.

Rachel Way, sales manager for Bellway South West, said: “Each property comes with its own garage or allocated parking and will appeal to people at all stages of the housing ladder, including first-time buyers, families and commuters around the region.

“A particular draw of this development is its seaside location, being just a 10-minute drive from the stunning Somerset coastline and Weston-super-Mare town centre. It is also a 40-minute drive from Bristol and within easy reach of the M5 for access to Gloucester and Exeter.

Work is underway at Eastcotts Place on a former RAF site in Shortstown, just south of Bedford. Bellway is building 15 homes there: ten apartments, a three-bedroom house and four two-bedroom houses. The first of the homes have now been released, with prices starting at £150,000.

Luke Southgate, sales director for Bellway Northern Home Counties, said: “New Cardington has been a major success story for Shortstown. Bellway is proud of the role it continues to play in building high-quality new homes in the area.

“The wider development has been supported by new facilities, including the doctors’ surgery. There are good schools, a supermarket and other community facilities which make this a desirable and sustainable place to live.

The company is building 163 two- to five-bedroom homes at the neighbouring Eastcotts Green development, where prices currently start at £305,000 for a three-bedroom semi-detached house.

In March, the housebuilder will launch its second development in the new Wavendon community near Milton Keynes. Wavendon View will comprise 239 homes, which includes one- and two-bedroom apartments and two-, three- and four-bedroom houses, with 74 affordable homes for local people.

Southgate added: “The location of our developments near to the village means buyers will get the rural experience while still being close enough to towns like Milton Keynes, which is just a 10-minute drive away, plus Northampton, Luton and Bedford via the M1.

“The new residents’ nearest railway station will be Woburn Sands, on the Bletchley to Bedford line, and those commuting into London can do so from Milton Keynes to Euston in just over half an hour. The accessibility of Wavendon View, along with the convenient travel routes, make this development perfect for first-time buyers, commuters or families who want a semi-rural location with good transport links.”

There’s a selection of two-, three- and four-bedroom houses available at the current Wavendon Chase scheme, adjacent to the new development.
