Thousands Paid Towards Deposit At County Durham Scheme

Barratt Homes is offering a special deal on reservations at Burton Woods until Sunday 29 November...

Barratt Homes is offering to pay up to £10,000 towards a deposit to those reserving a home at its Burton Woods development before Sunday 29 November.

It’s a popular site set in the wildlife haven on Whitworth Park in Spennymoor where there is currently a range of two-, three- and four-bedroom homes for sale, priced from £125,995 to £224,995.

A number of them can be purchased with the current Help to Buy scheme, but these will need to be reserved soon. Next year, the government re-launches Help to Buy, when it will only be available to first-time buyers and the price threshold for the property to qualify is reduced from £600,000 to a regional limit for the North East of £186,100.

The development is located less than nine miles from Durham city centre, with country walks on the doorstep and easy access to the A1. These new homes are within walking distance of Spennymoor high street, Rosa Street Primary School (rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted) and within the catchment area of The Oaks secondary school, rated ‘Outstanding’.

Some examples of the homes for sale at Burton Woods right now:

Plot 575 is a two-bedroom semi-detached house with an open-plan kitchen/dining/living room, downstairs WC, family bathroom, two double bedrooms, south-facing garden and a single parking space. It was recently reduced from £127,995 to £125,995.

Plot 592 is a three-storey, three-bedroom ‘Norbury’ house type. This has living/dining room, separate kitchen and WC on the ground floor, two double bedrooms and a bathroom on the first floor, and the large principal bedroom with en suite on the top floor. Priced at £186,995, this comes with thousands of pounds-worth of extras including upgraded kitchen, a spotlight package and built-in wardrobes to the master bedroom.

Top of the range currently is Plot 613, the four-bedroom detached ‘Windermere’, which has a single integral garage and two private parking spaces. At the front of the home is a lounge and at the rear, a kitchen/dining room with doors to the south-facing garden, along with a utility room and WC. Upstairs, all bedrooms are doubles, with an en suite to the master and a family bathroom for others to share. This is priced at £224,995.

All homes at Burton Woods include turf, fencing to rear and a block paved driveway as standard. Barratt Homes offers several buyer initiatives. In addition to Part Exchange, there’s an exclusive deal for Amazon employees and a 5% deposit scheme for NHS workers (worth up to £15,000).

An appointment can be made to visit the site from Thursday to Monday, between 10.00am and 5.30pm.
