Homes Snapped Up Quickly Since Launch in Somerset

Keith OsborneNew homes on a brand new development launched by Barratt Homes in Martock in August were selling in super-quick time, with ten of them snapped up just two weeks since they went on sale.
Sold off-plan and before the new show homes have even been completed, the huge interest in Coat Grove demonstrates a surge in demand for new homes following the easing of lockdown restrictions.
Nine of the ten homes sold so far have been to people from the local area, half of whom were first-time buyers. All five first-time buyers, along with two other purchasers buying their next homes, used the government's Help to Buy scheme.
The number of people registering their interest in a David Wilson Homes or Barratt Homes development in the South West went up by 82% last month on the same period last year.
Close to RNAS Yeovilton, two of the homes at Coat Grove were sold with Barratt's Armed Forces discount, which offers a 5% deposit contribution of up to £15,000. Another buyer has benefitted from Barratt's NHS discount, offering the same reduction.
Coat Grove, nestled on the edge of the Somerset Levels between the lively villages of Martock and Coat, is a development of two-, three- and four-bedroom homes. Less than one mile from local shops, pubs and restaurants and within easy reach of Yeovil, the new community also has the stunning Somerset countryside on its doorstep.
The new show homes at Coat Grove will open in September by appointment only and with a full range of safety and social distancing measures in place.
Nicki Reid, sales director at Barratt Homes, said: “We're so pleased the community around Martock and Coat have shown such an interest in this new development, which offers a wide selection of homes to suit a range of people, from first-time buyers to growing families and people looking to downsize or retire.
“The recent challenge of lockdown and the Covid pandemic have caused many people to reassess what they're looking for from their home, and we've seen a rise in interest across the South West. But the interest in Coat Grove is unprecedented and we're delighted to be delivering much-needed, high-quality new homes for the Somerset community.”
